You Finnish? :) Tolkien borrowed half of Kalevala (and Beowulf) for the Silmarillion and LOTR. Those stories are awesome too.
As it says in the profile.

And yes, I know. the first time I read LotR-verse as a teen, I was stunned by how familiar it seemed. Took me some months to realize it, but when you see it you can't deny it.

While I like Norse mythology I have a friend who's obsessed with it and says he follows the Norse religion. Yer, he's an odd guy.

Certain stuff like Loki strapped to a rock by his sons entrials while a snake drips venom into his eyes and his wife tries to collect the venom in a bowl...that's torture right there. At least with an eagle eating your guts you have most of the day to rest while you heal. For Loki it's constant pain, save for the bowl, which I'm pretty sure is shallow.

I will say that it is a close run thing, but I know more about the Norse than the Greeks.

I simply can't choose between all those. For me, Greek = Aztec = Mayan = Egyptian > Norse = Roman is as close as I can distinguish them.

Proberally Greek. Norse is tempting, because it is the Mythology of 8 year old boys, and hilarious because of it.

I choose Norse because I am Norse, well Swedish (close enough).
It's like yatzee says " It makes sense that the world is shit if the gods are shit".
However I do not believe in it (some people do, they are creepy) but find it entertaining to study, it gives some insight to my history.

I said Norse. Theyre the most entertaining to me and I find them easier than any of the others to integrate into fantasy worlds (DnD and the like).

Greek, because I've read more about it than any other. Plus it has better heroes.

Norse is pretty awesome and brutal. I will say, though, that Christian Mythos portrays the same (see Old Testimate).
Yea, seeing an omnipotent being that has no problems with his libido smite the Middle East is pretty cool.

Uh, Christian? Oooh aren't I an edgy ************?

Egyptian for me. Their gods were their kings, thats how to run a country.
Up until recently the Japanese considered their emporers to be Gods or at least Demi-Gods.
Quite often nations regarded their Kings as hand picked by the gods themselves.

I'll go with norse. Vikings and Amon Amarth...job done!

Have to say Greek, given the choices. But overall, my favourite would be Celtic mythology. The legends of Arthur and all the tales from the old Irish and Scottish bards... absolutely wonderful :D

Other - Celtic. This is our ORIGINAL religion in this country.
THIRD. My sister brought home a big, BIG, book of Celtic mythology (like, 1000 pages, tiny tiny text big). I was completely incapacitated for a week of summer holiday. After you've been forced to memorize the first 12 chapters of Edith Hamilton's book on Graeco-Roman mythology, Celtic mythology is a huge relief. I remember a story about three sisters who tried to escape from this witch, and only the third one made it because she stopped to help all these animals/personified objects along the way so they mislead the witch when she went to follow them; I remember another VERY long story about a boy whose name was something like Merrick or Maric and he had a brother who wasn't really a brother but they grew up together so it was sort of like that and there was this epic story... yeah, I should go reread that stuff. Sigh... <3
I don't suppose you could give me the title and author? Sounds like an interesting book and I'm starting to build up quite the collection... Would be most appreciated.

Norse and Greek. I like them both because the cultures seemed to realize that their Gods were crazy inbreds and were more likely to be total dicks to them instead of actually help them.

and it all just made it a better for story-wise

It's a tie between Norse and Greek. And Greek and Roman are almost the same so you could always just do Greek/Roman.

Hmm, toss up between Greek and Norse. Probably Greek, Norse lacks variety.
Yeah all of their gods were basically gods of war + something else.

Other -> Brutal legends. They were really quite good.

But for reality can I go with an all of the above button? I just like all mythology in general, and am comfortable on this fence thank you.
