I have more posts, you've been here longer. I think we can call this one a tie.

On topic, I don't mind topics that I haven't seen in a while, if I haven't seen them in a while. If the thread has been done a few weeks ago on a similar topic, then it just takes up space when there's a perfectly good thread to post in anyway.

Similarly, I will be annoyed if the opposite happens and people bring a thread back from the dead that has been dead for over a month. This is because doing that puts strain on the servers and will usually result in the thread being locked anyway because of this.

This is all mentioned in the forum guidelines, and why people still have to complain about it I don't know.

However, that doesn't mean that just saying 'this thread has been done before' or saying it in an aggressive manner are justified things to post either. The former because it is off-topic from the actual discussion and the latter because you're just not meant to be offensive on this site.

Oh, and if you have done a quick search, say so. Like manaman says, if you say you have done a quick search and nothing has come up there really is little else you can do without serious forum digging, so who cares?

Because this is the internet, and many people have nothin to do but shove their elitism down others' throats.
Yeah I would agr-WAIT, I've been here longer and I have a larger post count. [HEADING=2]YOU MEAN NOTHING[/HEADING]

...Sooooo by your logic I am far, far, FAR superior to the likes of you?

...Neat!

OT: we say so because sometimes a lot of newbies don't know about the rules of this forum. Better they get hammered once and remember not to do it again than the newbie thinking its ok to re-do threads on this site.

That's part of pretty much every forum ever. This particular thread is done about once every two weeks. Which makes it so wonderfully ironic.

I think it might have something to do with people not wanting a contentious topic to be repeated where it ends up being a border-line flame war (many of the sexist threads have resulted in a lot of quote-wars for example of feminists against anti-feminists) and it tends to cause a shitstorm. That or people don't like explaining themselves more than once. (IE "when is the Avatar movie coming out?" thread and someone replies "Learn to search ffs") Since they've probably given out the same answer numerous times and it's not really discussion-material.

Oh, and kind of on topic too, i notice many of the "first post responses" tend to be very aggressive or arrogant towards the OP, much of the hate is always in the first page of posting. Weird.
