why i hate it:

animation looks cheap and like something done on flash (i have a thing against animations studios being cheap when shows like invader zim are animated in beautiful way and get canceled)

The show in the 80s was to sell us toys but everyone knew it was for small girls while this one exist just to leach off nostalgia.

the current show JUST FUCKING SUCKS in both writting and a animation...also character design but thats a given

it somehow turn a bunch of boys into a buch of damn sissies.

NO BODY SHUTS THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT!!!!

plus more but thats the top 5.
1. The animation is pretty good and sleek. But I guess it's just a matter of preferences.
2. Lol, no. I can tell you that most of the people that enjoy Friendship is Magic thinks that the older generations are utter shit. We don't speak of it. IT WAS TERRIBLE.
3. Character design, that's about preferences again. But the stories are well written, don't you say anything else. They're interesting, which is fucking hard to come by in modern cartoons.
4. They turn boys into damn sissies? That comment is bad, and you should feel bad. Looking at your avatar, I'm gonna make this rebuttal:
You know what? I hate Halo because it turns boys into annoying morons.
I'm not really involved in this whole deal, but this irked me. I was born in the 80's, and I lived on a damn farm. We had no time for TV. But when I did get the chance to sync up to the boob tube, I watched My Little Ponies. I loved it. I was a child, and it met my needs for a half hour or so. It was not "TERRIBLE". End of story. No confetti, no whiny threads on the internet, and no stuffing it down people's throats. (Yes, I get that that last one is a hyperbole)

Don't rag on my shit. It was what it was. For the time period, it fit. Go back to watching your version, and stop trying to over-analyze why the rest of us choose not to. I don't start threads demanding answers from the rest of you because you won't watch "Fringe" with me, or "King of Queens", or even "Adventure Time", do I?

People like what they like. Who the hell cares? Now would you all kindly stop the damn name-calling and get off the forums with this nonsense? I'm sure there's a dedicated space here on the internet for you guys to discuss shows you like. Come back when you have a real topic to discuss.

/rant.

...the only pony you get from us are our avatars

No, I see plenty of you spamming your annoying images like that upside down haters gonna hate gif.

Now the reasons for hate:
1) The reason I posted above. Not everyone likes ponies, in fact it's quite clear that on the Escapist, the majority hate them. Forcing it down our throats because you 'don't understand the hate' is incredibly rude.
2) A lot of you simply refuse to accept that NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE WHAT YOU LIKE, this thread being evident of that. It's a cartoon aimed at young girls so you should understand that a lot of people over the age of 13 and/or of the male sex are not going to enjoy it.
3) No matter how much you harp on about it, YOU'RE NOT STAYING IN THE MLP GROUP, yet again, this thread is evident. A lot of you, perhaps a minority but it definitely seems like a lot, jump at every opportunity to shove MLP down our throats and then play dumb when you're getting hate.
4) Not exactly an Escapist problem but a lot of MLP fans are hypocritical, obsessing over ponies yet complaining about weeaboos who I've frankly had less trouble with.
5) The way you handle hate. "just watch the show it's good." Going back to point 2, NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE WHAT YOU LIKE. You'd hate it if you weren't a stoner and were told that the only reason you don't like it is that you haven't tried it.
6) A lot of you are just furries in denial. You definitely cling to the ideal of calling persecution at anyone who doesn't love your show.

A protip for life: you are not a special snowflake and do not deserve a whole thread every time someone doesn't like what you like, demanding why they don't like it.

Well...Put it this way.

Not even 4chan could cope with you bronies, so what makes you think that an Intellectual site such as the Escapist can.

It was okay at first "hey guys, look at this cool new my little pony show, it's kinda good." but then it slowly turned into more than that, and it's 4chan roots began to seem more apparent with each passing day.

Now, the Escapist is starting to hate you guys, and it's all your fault at the end of the day.

If you really truly liked it, You wouldn't be going on about it every five minutes. You don't see me going on about Pizza's or something in every post I make, do you?
1: Define "intellectual". I have yet to find a forum with a large number of people that can remain "intellectual" after it has more than ten members. And if it were so "intellectual", you'd think they'd be able to pay their people for the work they do.

2: It's YOUR fault at the end of the day. The threads that have anything to do with ponies are clearly labeled in the title. Yet, you make the choice to click "replay to thread" and take the time to type out something (more than likely) retarded, instead of ignoring it the instant you see it.

3: How does that last sentence even work? If you like something, you wouldn't take about it? Please elaborate how the FUCK that makes any sense. If I like something, I'll talk about it. If you don't like it, ignore it. But since this is the internet, retarded people rarely have the impulse control to ignore something they don't like.

You don't see me going to an Anime Convention and telling everyone that their interests suck and they shouldn't take about it. So why go to an obvious pony thread and tell people they shouldn't take about their interests?
I can't be arsed to start pointless arguments (it's far too late in the day), it's my opinion, and that's that I'm afraid.

:p
Yeah... matthew's is a kind of ridiculous irritant, and anyone who shares it is being unreasonable.

I mean, someone ACTUALLY said they don't like the fandom because people had similar ponies for avatars, and it was hard to distinguish posters... I mean...WTF? People can still read right? What about user names?!

You know, that could be said about almost anything with an above average fanbase.

But I get your point.

I'm not faking smiles though.
I agree completely, it's just that this show has become a meme now to the internet and as such people who don't even care are getting in on it and annoying the crap out of everyone else.

You

*honestly*

think people are watching a children's show about technicolor ponies to be "cool kids"?

I haven't care about what makes an individual a "cool kid" in a very long time, so I'm no expert on the subject. But last I checked, watching children's cartoons is not a viable method of being considered a "cool kid" by your peers, or by anyone.

Sure, ponies are cool. I love the show. But take an objective step back here. You think I, or anyone for that matter, will announce to the world that "Twilight Sparkle is the best pony" to the world for the sole purpose of being "cool"? I find that hard to believe.
I've seen wierder things become the source of popularity on the internet, it isn't odd at all here really.

Does not compute.

I wrote "sicipsfu WTF!?" in the captcha box and it let me pass anyway.

We have been staying in our chat for quite a while, but all the recent hate threads sort of forced us out. We did not want this thread to be made. But Pinkamena was curious.

I do not agree with Pinkamena calling it terrible, and I don't think he means that. Most of us just find G1 boring. G3 and G3.5 however. THOSE were terrible.

Disclaimer: The last statement is facetious.

It sounds like you

A: don't know what a cartoon is, or more likely,

B: don't want to admit that fox isn't anymore serious than rainbow dash

Even the phrase "post modern" doesn't make sense to me, post = after and modern = present. It would be like past "modern" or "past post", maybe I am just being very derpy at the moment but we all live in ignorance.
The term postmodern, or rather postmodernism, describes artistic movements which arise from, as well as reject or react against trends in modernism.

Or something like that... it was a while since I took art history...

----

On topic: Haters gonna hate. It's that simple.

Though the people who refuse to take posters with pony avatars seriously are fucking adorable. What makes ponies any worse than shitty anime/manga avatars or shitty cartoon avatars or shitty webcomic avatars? In fact, I think I'll just stop taking anyone seriously. Except the people who don't have avatars at all. They're cool.

Threads like these showcase some of the reasons I am sometimes disappointed to be a part of the fandom. "Why do people hate us so much for no good reason? It's not like we've done anything to them." Get over the persecution complex. It's the real world. People like stuff and people hate stuff. MLP just happens to be the flavor of the month(s).

People who can't participate in an argument or debate without resorting to macros, or just fall back on the "just watch it before hating it" with YouTube links. Stop it. You're not helping.

"Bronies." No. Just no. I am a person who happens to like a show. I don't need to further segregate myself by adding a dumb moniker.

"Somepony," "Anypony," and "Nopony." For the love of [insert divine entity] stop. This is like nails on a chalkboard to my eyes, and I am one of you. I can't imagine how grating it must be for someone not in the loop.

I'm sorry if I disappoint you, but it needs to be said.

Because when I'm looking up rule 34 shit, I don't want to see My Little God Damn Pony every other fucking picture.

Oh yeah, and because <url=http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/03/phoenix-wright-pony-game.html>this exists.
You know, you don't have to look up rule 34, you can look up other key words like "Hentai, Porn, Hot" whatever your heart desires, it isn't like google doesn't find porn unless you type in the keyword "Rule 34" you can find a pletherad of things you might like without running into a single pony picture Ok you might find one but it would be like looking up cream pies and finding a map of bulgaria.

It's because people have ponies as avatars. Ponies as avatars. On the Escapist. It's just... it's just going too far.
Not only did I pee myself from laughter, but I also burst my spleen and landed myself in the hospital.
I don't know why you're laughing this is a serious matter. I mean, consider.

There are people

on the Escapist

who have avatars

which contain characters

from the cartoon

My Little Pony.

...

Seriously, how much worse can it get? I don't know why the mods haven't cracked down on these people. The audacity they must have to pull off this heinous and criminal act. It's just sickening. I hope no children happen to glance at the screen while their parents/older siblings happen to be on. The mental scars they're carry through their life... nobody should be made to carry that burden.

I think Lauren Faust (the creator) already gave a excellent explanation as to why she thinks it has become so popular among young males. In a nutshell, it goes something like this: "It doesn't strike me as extremely odd to find teenage males becoming attached to the show. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was designed for little girls AND THEIR PARENTS." So my guess is that if older male parents are supposed to be in the targeted audience then why not younger males? Personally, I think the real answer is because its popular. Just about everyone on this website hates anything that gets really popular (Halo, Call of Duty, etc). Haters gonna hate, and we will respond by loving and tolerating the shit out of them.

I vaguely disagree. It's one of the best arguments you can make. Nopony should actively dislike or even hate something they've had no experience with. if they watch it and don't like it, fair enough. But people really need to learn to make informed judgements and opinions instead of the "herpaderp is for leetle girls" nonsense they do now.
And no, not just for pony-based animation, but any bloody thing in life.

Except vegetarianism, that's just silly. Animals are delicious.

But I don't want any hate in this thread. Just an explanation.
Look, I'm not supporting either side, but you're only asking because it's your favourite meme. Why do people hate the pony meme? Same reason anyone hates any meme. Like I said, you're only asking why because it is, if you will, your meme of choice.

And I see plenty of other people "spamming" other "haters gonna hate" gifs without ponies! It drives me insane!

I still don't get what the people on the escapist mean by us shoving it down their throats. Can you give me an example? I also find it weird that you want to bring age and genders into this discussion. Most fans of the new shows are in fact males over the age of 13. Like me.

Regarding your second point. That goes for haters and fans alike. But it does not go for everyone of said groups. I also find it weird that you want to bring age and genders into this discussion. Most fans of the new shows are in fact males over the age of 13. Like me.

Also, most people on the escapist doesn't hate MLP. They do NOT care, at all. Haters and bronies are both a minority.

And I can vouch for Pinkamena and say that he does not fit your last statement.

In what way is it childish I ask you? They are going to save the freaking galaxy from a man who wants to watch them die, not childish at all.

You are taunted about how your father squealed before he died and how you were going to be tortured.

Childish?
Not_sure_if_troll_or_just_stupid.jpg

I mean, everypony knows that in MLP:FiM the mane cast embarked on a quest to stop an evil tyrant who planned to stop the Sun rising, casting their world into eternal darkness.

But then I suppose they didn't do it with polygonal spaceships so it's not cool.

It's a show for 5 year old little girls; that now you, probably an older teenage are watching. I don't like it because most of you who watch this SHOW FOR 5 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRLS are just people who are into it because the rest of the internet is, because you wanna fit in with a stupid ass group.
Everyone knows video games are just toys for little kids. Honestly I think it's pretty obvious that teens/adults who play video games are just sad, lonely, developmentally retarded shut-ins. Imagine if you devoted all that time and energy to something important, like football! Don't you know this computer games thing is just a fad that will blow over, and you'll be left with nothing but wasted time? If you don't believe me, just watch Fox News (the only news station that hasn't been bought out by corporate interests trying to push that poisonous hobby)!
If you're not being facetious, the stupidity of that comment is enough to make me lose faith in people.
