if you want to see how something like 'Total War: Warhammer' would play you should check out the Medieval 2 mods 'Call or Warhammer' and 'Sundering: Rise of the witch king'.

I'd highly recommend checking them out. if nothing else it should at least hold you over until CA releases Total War: Warhammer.

for people who want more information about these mods

(FYI Call of Warhammer is currently in the process of adding skaven and tomb kings as playable races)

I'm wary of the new release anyway, seeing as recent TW games have been at best average, IMHO.

it's their new engine. it's not as good as the medieval one. if you notice when to melee units clash in the new engine they bunch together before slowly spacing out. while in the old one they would charge through the unit. it's because they need to do their kill animations. it's stupid.

Call of Warhammer was a mod made by Russians wasn't it? I remember because I could never get the English patch to work on it and had to soldier through, but this was back when it was really buggy, it's probably improved now.

And what? no mention of Mark of Chaos? for shame sir!

My quote button doesn't work on this laptop, but I agree with baddude. I don't think its just the collision system though, I mean I had fun with Atilla: Total war but the same experience I had with Rome and Medieval II was, and still is, way more better though its really difficult to explain why I can play away those two like mad but like the desire to do so with Atilla, or Rome II

Yeah, the clusterfuck of the new battle engine completely eliminates the idea of unit cohesion and strategy. it was pretty bad for Rome 2, seeing as that's what Romans were all about. I'm perfectly happy with Roma Surrectum 2 in that regard, and the bountiful other mods for Rome 1 and Medieval 2.
