If you download a psp/ps3 game of the american psn store, will it play on my psp/ps3 (I am from the UK) or are they region locked?
No, the PS3 is region free only for PS3 games. Region locked DVD's and Blu-rays won't play in a PS3 from another region (although many Blu-ray discs are region free, but not all of them). I've had to hack my home cinema to be region free to play my region 1 DVD's. There's no known way to make the PS3 region free though, even with third party remotes.XJ-0461 said:I'm not sure. But this does lead me to a question of my own: Will a PS3 bought in England play DVDs made for America? If people could answer this as well as trooper112's question, I'd be really thankful.
Oh well, win some, loose some. In any case, thanks for answering my question.Imperator_DK said:No, the PS3 is region free only for PS3 games. You're welcome. It's still an excellent multi media device (with a large enough hard drive), but SONY are really holding on to the whole "region lock" monstrosity. As you can get many a cheap DVD player which can (fully legally) be made region free with their own remotes by inputting a code though (you can google a cheap model of your liking + region free, and something should show up), it isn't really much of a problem for DVD's. Getting your hands on a region free Blu-ray player is a whole other matter though.XJ-0461 said:Oh well, win some, loose some. In any case, thanks for answering my question.
