Region locks and DLC

[sub][sub][sub]Well, I'm not sure if this should go in gaming discussion or in off-topic...[/sub][/sub][/sub]
So I recently found out that I can't install DLC from Playstation Store for one particular game because of region locking. The game itself was imported from the US, and the DLC was bought from the "European" Playstation Store (I honestly didn't know that the PS Store was separated between regions). Basicly, US game + EU DLC = No go. Whoops, didn't expect that. >_<

Anyhow, my questions to the fellow Escapist-members are:
1. Would making an US Playstation Account allow me to buy and install the "correct" DLC without having it region-locked? If so, how would I do that?

2. Have you ever had any trouble with region locks and/or DLC?

3. What are your thoughts about regional locks?

1. Ive never tried it before, but it should work. Google is your friend. I have a US and Japanese account as well as a PAL Account.

2. I bought Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix from Playasia once. Didnt know about region protection. It didnt work, so I traded it for Pokemon Diamond. I really want to buy Final Mix now.

3. I hate it. Its a stupid idea and it annoys me. Not releasing in certain countries/regions is fine, but why would you go out of your way to stop people from importing?
