Have you ever had a death in a videogame that you've come to regret? I was killed on Killzone 2, no big deal, until the game froze in the loading screen. I had to turn the Playstation off at the wall and now it doesn't read discs.

Condemed, i died at somepoint pretty far in the game, but the save/load fucke dup and when it loaded back instead of having the earliest checkpoint it loaded an old game saved. I went to load the latest checkpoint which i was on but the game overwriten he last checkpoinjt with the old save. So i had a lot of replaying to do.

Facing Safer Sephiroth for the first time, I died, because I was unprepared for the long trek in the Northern Crater to get to him, or the abilities he would have in battle.

Second time, I beat him, but dying that first time was a crushing blow to my morale. =[

BAD MOVE.
Oh yeah, especially back in the prepatch days, when it froze all the fucking time.

To address the topic, YES.

I really regretted dying in Morrowind for the XBOX, since the load was literally 5 minutes long. No regrets dying on PC.

I'm not being smart, but what would be the reason for turning off the autosave? I can't see any benefit?

Long story short, I needed the autosave & was playing on a second run-through, Usually im quite prompt at saving, But i was engrossed & forgot. Then I jumped off a cliff & *dead*.

I keep forgetting how easy it is to die via falling on oblivion.

In the PC version saving over an older save has a chance of corrupting the save, this corruption is passed on to manual saves made after loading the autosave and after some time the save can no longer be used.

On-topic: Every death in an RPG or shooter during a boss fight because I will know everything that's going to happen up to the point where I died.

There were 10 seconds left on the clock.
I ran to the base, clutching the power core in my hands while my footsteps were followed by constant gunfire.
My teammates were yelling in their mics: "Go, go, go, go!"
The score was 2-2.
We were one victory short of winning our guild war.
Well sort of....

I had the exact same thing happen to me, except I had the witch setup and was knifing everyone and the score was 7300-7400. There was two enemies, I could get them both, but the guy I went to knife was killed as I knifed him so I missed that kill, and the other enemy obviously saw me (He was around the corner, couldn't get to him in time) and I ended up being the death that lost the game.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Aha, I see.

And actually I should have realised that because it happened to me in Fallout 3, I got stuck with an incredibly annoying audio glitch where the beeping noise from the deathclaw scrambler wouldn't switch off.
