Well, the EPA dropped a ball on this one.

Now it should not really come to a surprise, than there is such a thing as illegal dumping of chemicals, but I still think it's rather worrying.

Just a possible danger of putting a bigger emphasis on profit, than proper regulation

P.S: I didn't put this in RP, because I didn't think it was a truly political thing, but more on public health.

EDIT: I'll summarize this. The article talks about the consequences of lax water regulation in places like West Virginia and some of the reasons why the EPA hasn't come down on the coal companies, why is corruption and industry meddling. There was an example of Mr. Crum, who was an active regulator, but who was sidelined because of his tough approach.

It's sort of like Árpád Pusztai, if anyone wants to research him. He was a scientist who researched the problems with GMO and was fired for saying that they were not safe.
