Well it certainly isn't being online when I'm stuck with an old laptop that barely works, has given me blue screen of death 4 times in 3 days and closes Firefox whenever it feels like it.....
/rant.

I usually relax with a good book or some music. I also find candles helpful, I think I may light one now....

Fixed XD

Yes, I know that wasn't what you were intending, so, before somebody comes along and flames me for making a joke out of it, I'm going to slap this fat spoiler right here.

I just sit back, beverage to my right, book to my left, make sure I 'forget' I have a laptop and keep myself to myself for a few hours.

Another thing is music, I usually don't mind listening to most kinds (Some exceptions...) but I prefer those with a slower tempo or based around the actual music, instead of lyrics.

One thing I'll try and share now is the Hang (Contribution from a noob as it were)

Insomniac Jam [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0xxnFqdBCE&feature=related]
Hypnotic Chill [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhgF8GO_yrE&feature=related]

Less talk, more listening.

That sucks. I have an XPS laptop that is capable of running on Crysis low (which means basically every other game on high). I make my games in C# on it and I create algorithms to do Applied Mathematics on it and it has yet to give me the Blue Screen of Death. Although it does have cool, funky red lights coming out of the sides and the top. When I play music on it on Windows Media Player the lights change colour and dim with the beat of the music.

Talk about getting your funk on when programming:D

EDIT: Not to brag or anything, of course:D
Of course you're not bragging. You're just pointing out that I'm stuck in a bad situation and you happen to have much better tech >.>

Worst thing is, I've just drained my account of a large amount of money, so I can't buy a new one for a fair while now......

You could be worse off. You could be a college student with no money and a loan to pay a bit off so that you can take out ?1,300 just to go back to Computer Games Development in college in a few months time, with a job dependant on the economy (therefore still employed but not given hours since December) and the clock is ticking in a bad economy.

What did you spend that money on girl?!
I had to spend the money on booking a hostel for the UK meeting of Escapists, I said I'd do it for some totally unknown reason, however the other people should be paying me back..... (Major hint that anyone who hasn't paid for Escapism UK accomodation must do so as soon as possible.)

Listening to music and reading a book. Or acting. Coffee helps too. Right now I'm trying to watch the entire series of Elfen Lied even though it's half past one in the morning here and the website it's streaming through forces me to have to wait an hour every time I watch for 72 mintes because I don't have an account, so the watching of 13 episodes x 25 minutes each = 325 minutes, or 5 and a half hours, of anime has actually taken me since about 7pm tonight...

Sorry, I've no idea what the BBcode is for posting videos (Sorry!)
Usually some url tags will work just fine, or you can quote the guy who posted after you to see the BBcode.

There's an Escapist meeting? I live in Ireland. Why would you want to go to one? This site doesn't offer anything extroidinary beyond a good forum UI and sometimes the little tid-bit articles you find here. I normally find out about what goes on the game industry before it's posted here and sometimes I even spot the mistakes some of their articles makes (sorry Escapist, but copy & paste someone else's article without doing research or anything to contribute is not journalism).

What does the meeting actually offer or, for that matter, what would you get out of it that this site doesn't do? I would rather spend the money and go to a demo party or, even better, earn some cash in a video game tournament (see my profile picture for example of me holding trophy).

Hell, skip that and go to this: http://www.urbis.org.uk/

It's educational and I so want to go.
Actually the Escapist meeting is more of a social event, we just fancied meeting up so we're all heading to London. On the Saturday, the main thing is paintballing and bowling, but some of us are making a weekend of it.

Well besides music and gaming, going out to the shooting range is strangely relaxing to me. After a couple of hours of plinking out in the desert, I get sleepy. No clue as to why. Though I don't think I'm the only one. A couple of my gaming buddies actually took a nap in our tent behind the firing line at OFASTS two years ago, despite all the racket and explosions.

Putting on some relaxing music, finding a good book and have a few cold beers by my side.
And being curled up in my sofa.
