So I picked up Red Dead Redemption on Tuesday, and have been thoroughly enjoying it since, but I've just come to a stunning realization... this is the first game I've ever bought on release date.

Usually I don't buy games on release date because of money constrictions, and I have things to tide me over until the price drops, but the opportunity for fun things to do in multiplayer was too good to pass up. (although some of them haven't come to fruition because you can't rob trains (except for that one mission). How the hell could they leave out train robberies in a western!?) It's still an awesome game, but I was really looking forward to posseing(?) up and robbing some trains. That, to me, kinda makes it not worth it.

So, what was the first game you got on release date, and why? Was it worth it?

The first game I got on release date was Tomb Raider II, I think. I'd loved the first one, so I pooled together with my dad to get the second on the day of release.

Any game I see I plan on buying I pretty much buy it on release date. No way I'd remember what my first was.

Um, nothing yet, but I do have Diablo 3 on pre-order. Come release date, I'll be runing there with my cash in hand to see skeletal goodness. NOW IN 3D!

The first game I remember buying on release date was Resistance 2. I was really looking forward to it.

I'll be getting Alpha Protocol on release day, as I've already got it pre-ordered.

Probably the first would have been Super Mario 64 DS, because I got it on the release day of the DS. In that case, worth it, because it was a Sunday, and I had a new game system to break in. Otherwise, not really. Even if I did pick up a game on it's release date, I'd probably be waiting until the weekend to play it.

Never bought one on a release date. Hell, I usually get my games a few months behind.

Come to think of it, I think I got Halo Wars on the release date.

Borderlands, quickly followed by Left 4 Dead 2. Had them pre-ordered in a four-pack with some friends.

Well, I pre-ordered Brawl, so there's that. I know I probably got a few before that, but I can't think of them.

Oh, I got Jak 3 a few days before release date, too! Courtesy of my friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart putting it out before they was supposed to.

Resistance 2 as well. And it was enjoyable, just not 60-70 bucks enjoyable.
Gonna stick to crouching patiently in front of the Used bin waiting to strike.
Save money, and give it 2 weeks. That's my motto.

Pokemon Yellow I think. My grandfather or mom (forgot) got it for me when I was in school. Before then, I never knew what games were coming out, and most games I got were through exploring game stores. Finding a good game was more magical back then.
