It may well be a crappy universe but we will fight for it anyway. Principle of the matter and all.
Well to be fair their aren't any other universes that the imperium could move to, crappy or otherwise. Unless the warp counts as a universe, but they'd all be completely screwed there anyway.

Ehh... I'm not too big a fan of the forces of the Imperium myself. The Eldar are where it's at for me (my tabletop forces), closely followed by Chaos (original Dawn of War series). I didn't like DoW2 largely because of the shift away from base-building and more towards individual units. Not my speed at all.

Pretty much, though some people aren't as big an asshole race as others. Chaos, for example, has much more assholery than the Orks. The former is into all sorts of crazy depraved stuff - more so if you look at Slaanesh, Chaos God of Pleasure - while the Orks live to fight, plain and simple.

I giggled immensely. This is the single funniest view on WH40k I have heard in quite a long time.

This news somewhat displeases me though, Relic being famous for sucking at balance and MMO's in the same sentence makes me want to bury my head in the sand and pretend I didn't read it.
This^. I actually have far more faith in Vigil than I do in Relic. Tyranids were hideously overpowered in the singleplayer campaign of Retribution.

so in other words, more Blood Ravens. which actually im surprised they arn't shown in Space Marine.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing a bit more love shown to the other chapters of the space marines to be honest: Eg. Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Imperial Fists etc.

The thing about the Blood Angels and Space Wolves is that they have genetic problems (the Flaw and the Beast Within, respectively), and those are kinda difficult to apply to a game like Dawn of War or Dark Millennium where all of the Space Marine units and skills are identical and the only difference between Chapters is a name and palette swap. The Blood Ravens' desire to hoard information, as a result of not knowing who their Primarch is, is kinda mentioned in Dawn of War 2, but that's about it. It doesn't have impact on gameplay.

If you want to go with a different Chapter, for the love of God, do not pick the Ultramarines. They are the Blandy McBlandersons of the Imperium. I would go with the Dark Angels myself, though their uniform is different from other Chapters (the robes and all that).

more bood ravens could be a good thing, as they aren't one of GW's own chapters of space marines relic have had more freedom to play around with their fluff without worrying about clashing with pre-existing fluff for established chapters.

also yay relic, they seem like such nice fellows. must be cos they're canadians, or is that cadians....
They are Canadian Cadians, deadlier than the corpse emperor himself.

It's not so much their single player balance that bothers me, it's their inability to balance out multiplayer.
I remember when Dark Crusade first came out and Tau could straight up win fights in 5 minutes thanks to Tau Commander & Vespid combination. They could harass so incredibly well that they just rofl stomped over your economy.
A squad of kroot or a fire squad would end the game for you.

The Necrons also couldn't be stopped either, Tau players who where rolling everyone just whined all day about the Necrons ability to face roll them. Them and everyone else.
It was frankly hilarious to watch a single Necron squad slowly march towards an enemy only to get in range whilst under fire and proceed to decimate them.

Stuff like this in an MMO is just unsettling.

I kinda like the fluff they've been building up around the Blood Ravens. If the scuttlebutt around the internet is to believed, they may have a very interesting origin story.

http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Blood_Ravens Just skip to the end and read the final speculative article on the origins of their gene-seed.

OT: I have the utmost belief in Relic. DoW1 and DoW2 were very different games, but they both shined equally bright. Relic are A-OK in my book.

That's a fun read. The concept and possibilities are intriguing.

Not sure where I read it, might have been Gamespot. But I think that the only "class" you will get to play in Dark Millennium is that of the Inquisition. It might include the Grey Knights, if we are lucky enough.

Keep in mind that *SPOILER ALERT* the Blood Ravens are probably no longer the Blood Ravens. If you play through DoW Retribution as Space Marines they basically start up a new chapter at the end with Gabriel Angelos as the new Chapter Master.
