Me too. I'd like an action RPG style that would make enemies as difficult as say, third person WRPGs, but then I'd assume we'd only be able to play Cloud. They could always update the ATB system as well.Diablo1099 said:That does kinda leave the question about the gameplay, now that I think about it.
While the turn based combat was solid, It's pretty basic compared to what kinda stuff we have now.
They will either change nothing or they'll try to update it, can't figure out which one might be worse.
Eh, that's roughly my reaction as well, specifically:canadamus_prime said:I don't get the second half of this strip. The only reactions I've seen are everyone going nuts in celebration. ...except for mine which is a very sarcastic "whoopty shit."
Ugh. Let me point this out. FF7 is a decent JRPG but that's as far as I'll give it. It's popularity is that it was the first game in the series to be mass marketed, nothing else. The characters are cardboard, the pacing is like a yo-yo and the mechanics are simply a slightly different approach to what has been twice before in the series. And that doesn't even begin to mention the bugs, glitches and exploits that are rampant in the unfinished title. I honestly doubt that anyone praising it like the second coming of Christ has either a)played any other JRPG or b) has actually played it through recently and seen just how badly it's aged and not just in terms of graphics.
How was 12. From what I have seen of it I am intriguedLordLundar said:The merger happened shortly after Final Fantasy 10 was released which was regarded as the last good game in the series. FF11 is an MMO, 12 underperformed, the less said about 13 the better, etc. The idea is squaresoft can make a good Final Fantasy game, square enix however, can't.Cowabungaa said:As someone who never played FF7 I don't quite get this comic. The slide in quality started much sooner, after FFVI.Joshroom said:I think the joke is that the company Squaresoft who made FF7 back in the day and the company Square-Enix as it stands today are very different. So the reaction is "yay, the games being remade! All my childhood nostalgia and joy!" and then the realisation "wait a minute, weren't they the guys who also made FF13, FF13-2, FF13 bloody 3 and messed up FF14 the first time they tried it? Ah shit! All my childhood nostalgia and joy!"Cowabungaa said:As someone who never played FF7 I don't quite get this comic. What's up with that reaction?
Not really fair to call it a merger... It's like saying EA merged with MaxisJenSeven said:Well, FF7 is quite good and a lot of people remember it fondly.Cowabungaa said:As someone who never played FF7 I don't quite get this comic. What's up with that reaction?
After the companies Square and Enix merged they drove Final Fantasy into the massive hole it is in now.
And now that company decides to drive the massive bus that FF7 is again and nobody knows if their driving licence is still valid
Not really RIght now FInal Fantasy achieved the critical mass that Star Wars and Star Trek enjoy. They announce a game and people will buy the shiny game no matter what. They slap Finbal Fantasy on anything and people will buy it.Caramel Frappe said:I hope Squareenix really takes proper care of FF 7 .. can you imagine if they screw the pooch on this one?
Their reputation wouldn't recover, it's simple as that. Best of luck to them.
Well, since it's been like 15 solid years tons of people have been screaming "take all our money, pleaaaase!!!" for the remake, and no one understood why those cash grabbers never obliged. Clearly, the sky is going to fall and the sees will turn into blood. And then a biiiiig meteorite will smash us out of existence!Cowabungaa said:As someone who never played FF7 I don't quite get this comic. What's up with that reaction?
Meh. The game largely sold on the name alone. There was very little in it that really felt like a FF game. Little exploration, bland story, flat characters, and the combat was more like an MMO than the FF staple. Basically the hallmarks of Final Fantasy ended with 10.Alex Baas said:How was 12. Like I said, the Shareholders wouldn't allow it to happen, if Square Enix screws up there, A Shareholder who suddenly is broke will be a lot more dangerous to them then a FF7 crazy enough to kill them.Caramel Frappe said:I hope Squareenix really takes proper care of FF 7 .. can you imagine if they screw the pooch on this one?
