In Australia we use them for both ANZAC day and rememberance day.
We don't have a remembrance day, for us it really is ANZAC day.
Really? That's a bit odd, we have both, 11/11 and 25/04 and use poppies to celebrate both.
Poppy's aren't really used to 'celebrate' ANZAC day, just put on wreaths and other such things. The Poppy's actual significance comes from Remembrance Day.

I have a memory of being told in school that they were something to do with gallipoli, though I really should know better than to rely on things teachers have told me :S We still wear them in honour of the ANZACs on ANZAC day regardless, even if that's not what they were originially meant to signify

I had the two minutes silence on Sunday and watched the marches and remembrance programs on TV, its nice to remember those who died protecting our shores.

I usually leave flowers at the war memorial downtown and then at 12 pm on the button no matter where I am I stand up and take a moment of silence. My great uncle died fighting in Normandy so this holiday is a big deal for me and my family.

I was in an exam at 11am this morning. Curse my exam timetable.

I wonder why it's not a public holiday though, like ANZAC day.

I don't see many people wearing Poppy's on ANZAC day, maybe it's where I live *shrugs* but they pin a sprig of Rosemary to their shirts which is remembrance for the men who never returned from Gallipoli and later wars (I just searched that info for my own benefit :)) Red Poppy's flowered at the time of the Aussies landing at Gallipoli which is probably why some people choose to wear them on ANZAC day. Speaking of which, I recommend watching the movie Gallipoli, good movie with Mel Gibson. That's if you haven't already.

Was at university and there was a 2min silence in the library (that a few arseholes loudly ignored out of either ignorance or "offence to their religious beliefs").

Didn't do anything on Sunday (here in the UK the memorial services were moved to the nearest Sunday, because it brings London to a standstill and people have to work and stuff; and on the actual 11th there's the silence and a televised service from Westminster Cathedral); and was really annoyed that I couldn't buy a poppy this year - forgot before Sunday, and after Sunday the sellers had all disappeared from the streets :(
