I just took a look at this page [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StreetSharks] and laughed my head off, and then I realized something. As a kid, I took these things completely seriously. Okay, so we didn't get the cartoon here in Sweden, but they did sell the toys and by golly I loved them. And while they still manage to give me a certain feeling of narm charm, I can't stop thinking about how as a kid I took this perfectly seriously, and I find myself missing the ability to take a look at something this ridiculous and think "That's so COOL!" and mean it completely.

And remember the old Archie Comics Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics? Remember this guy called Mondo Gecko? I can't find any images of him that aren't horribly ugly, sorry. He was a human gecko lizard, and the issue only issue with him that I read was the one with his first appearance, but I really, really wanted to be like him. I remember the scene with him standing there, having just been transformed into a human gecko, and saying "Weird... But pretty cool... And it probably could have been worse." I really, really wanted that to happen to me.

The point of this king-sized post is that I remember how cool I thought all those things were, and while I have to admit that those Turtles comic books are pretty darn well-written, I don't want to be a human gecko lizard anymore and I think the Street Sharks are really, really silly, and I can't help but think that the kid me was right and I'm the one who's wrong about this. Does anybody else here miss that ability to take stuff like this seriously?
