An american physicist, tired of fanciful film plot lines has called for an end to scientifcally incoorect plot lines in films. While it does sound like an old man complaining about how stupid everybody is, he does have one valid point. Films reach a much wider audience than scientific journals, and the influence they have can colour peoples perceptions of real life science.
In science lessons at school sombody always use to say "Oh like in that film where (completely unrelated and unfeasable thing happens)"
