Putting in Japanese dialogue(No english subs nothin') to a bethesda game...
Well that's a highly cultural-specific statement.
*sigh*

i think he's making fun of the JRPG/WRPG counter-conventions, more than pointing racist fingers at any one thing, both schools have evolved differently since the 70s and 80s/90s from D&D rulesets to FF & Zelda, and that's evident when you see what the 21st century console versions of FF/Zelda now resemble, compared to the way they looked and played in the 90s.

personally, i'd go with Skullkid4187 being misguided for sarcastic effect. IMO adding JRPG "manga" and bishounen to a bethesda game would not change it much, or ruin the "story".

the black comedy would be strange and fugly, but fallout new vegas DLC with androgynous blonde teenage zombies and NPCs posing, modelling and pouting, and bromance'ing the main character would not be *that* out of place to make the game awful. then again, i do hate FNV.

http://www.creativeuncut.com/webcomic/pixies-pub-comic0084.html is the ultimate decider of this.

but if you want specifics
JRPG - skill development/grinding .or. the story
Final Fantasy - the Manga story/dialogue
Bioware ARPGs - companions
Bethesda RPGs - (so many choices... so little time. OK, OK) the NPC A.I.

The NPC storylines from The Legend of Mana. No, the crafting and taming was still awesome. Dang it.

The player characters from G.U.R.P.S.

The sandbox quality from Ultima Online.

The ability to run from Parasite Eve.

The weapons from Ratchet & Clank.

The floor from... any other game.

The physics from Trackmania or any of the modern racing games. If it doesn't feel like it's squirming through the kerbs and needs to be wrenched back into line, it's not an accurate racer.

remove text/voice from the game.

you basically destroyed their whole collection.
I'd play them. If you just removed the characters' facial movements from speaking as well, and literally everything else was the same.

It'd be entertaining to see Shepard walk up to someone and stare at them, then the camera swtiches to the other person, who just stares at Shepard while you have an option of three blank choices.

Then you go save the universe for some reason.

Remove the space marines from Space Marine and you'd play as an Imperial Guardsman. Which isn't bad if you know you're gonna die in one of four ways:

- By Commissar
- Enemy bullet or blade (best fate)
- Taken alive (worst possible fate)
- Incompetent higher-ups

In other words, it's a very short game.

Remove that John Marston dies. That'd kill the whole story.
For the love of shit, man put a spoiler on it.
I'm not going to put a spoiler tag on a game thats been out for a while.
Maybe I haven't read the site rules properly, my mistake, then.

Roman Bellic and Bernie Crane's characters from GTA4.

I feel like Roman was the heart of the whole story, not Niko. A person with his own flaws and problems, but refusing to give in to the pessimism that plagues Niko and those like him.

Bernie, having been through the same things as Niko, was able to move on from them, which shows Niko and the player that there's light at the end of his tunnel.

Without them, the game would have just been way too depressing.

This. I mean, those voiceovers just make that game. "Waaannkkeeers!"

Not that it would make the game "awful", persay, but removing HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic.

KotOR fans everywhere would burn down LucasArts HQ, for sure.

Pokemon: pokeballs of all sorts. Resorting to having to catch them with nets and traps, the good ol' fashioned way.
That actually sounds like it could be fun.
I find great amusement in the premises of a 10 year boy or girl attempting to use a net or a bear trap to catch a Pokemon like Rayquaza or Dragonite without picked off the ground and dragged off into gods know where..

The monsters in Amnesia: The Dark Descent and multiplayer in the Call of Duty series. Also, the battle system in Final Fantasy XII. That was the only thing that met my expectations in that game.

I'ma go ahead and bump this ***** with conundrum - I can't think of any one aspect of Assassin's Creed 2 that would be removed, resulting in a terrible game.

Ideas?

Final Fantasy series - remove the open world, not just silly-girl-mode like XIII did for the most part of the game, but completely.
They did that for FFX, being a linear game until you get the airship (right near the end). It was still awesome. Your point is moot.

Halo - get rid of vehicles.
Assassin's Creed - get rid of parkour.
Gears of War - get rid of cover.
The Longest Journey - get rid of April's snarkyness.
Alan Wake - get rid of Coconut.

Okay, Alan Wake is awesome anyway, with or without Coconut, but even so...
