Ok, I would like to point out that you just completely missed the point. There was no Deus Ex Machina ending. As a matter of fact, it was the complete opposite! They day wasn't won from something that popped up at the end out of nowhere, but, something that was already there before the episode even began, with long, dedicated magic training.

See, the whole reason why the changelings were launched away like that was because Shining Armour released his force field. At first, he was too drained, but, then, Cadence charged him back up again as soon as she could reach him. Also, "The Magic of Friendship" was never bested by "The Power of Love". The Mane 6 were unable to get to the Elements of Harmony because there were thousands of changelings that overwhelmed them. However, Cadence got a clear shot at getting to Shining Armour. You're looking way too hard for symbolism in all the wrong places, when what's actually happening is completely literal, physical stuff.

Also, Team Fortress 2 references? Really? "Pushing a mine cart" isn't a TF2 reference any more than it's a reference to Indiana Jones or Donkey Kong. And sandwiches aren't a reference to it any more than... anything else that happens to have sandwiches. Also, there were not any shape-shifting spies. Did anything the changelings were doing look anything remotely like spying? No. They were not out stealing information. They were on the assault. If anything, they were shape-shifting soldiers.

The episode wasn't perfect, but, the specific things you're accusing it of are just... illogical.

All I know is that that groom guy's colour scheme makes me wish Homestar runner was on tv. I agree that they tried to do too much with it though, the changelings while sort of cool were totally out of nowhere, and having twilight be like "this guy is my only friend who I have known forever but never mentioned to my friends ever" was pretty weak.

My big gripe with the finale was the way the rest of the Mane Six just abandoned Twilight. None of them even sat down for a minute to hear her out. After episodes like "Friendship is Magic" and "Lesson Zero" you'd think they'd know to take her worries seriously. But instead they suffered from Smallville's Lana Lang Syndrome.
yeah, i thought that was kinda odd to, especially after Lesson Zero and almost losing her all together

other then that hicup, i really enjoyed it

One thing you gotta realize when going into this is despite the huge Brony following, MLP is still geared to little girls. It's not going to be the same as adult media, which is why lessons from past events are put into practice the next time something similar happens.

Really good review. ^^ I found it quite enjoyable. I'll have to check out your other work. :D

I really enjoyed the episode myself, and you nailed pretty much everything.

Spoilerish of a special appearance!
But let's face it, the biggest highlight of the entire thing was DJ's appearance. :3

Hah, true. Now that we finally know where Vinyl Scratch stays in between gigs, hidden somewhere in Pinkie Space, I have to say: Shame on Pinkie Pie for not letting her out more often.

Also I'm kinda hoping we get to hear Vinyl Scratch speak in Season 3, provided it will be as good as unrevised Derpy.
I thought her name was DJ P0n3? Vinyl Scratch does sound like a better name, though. Lol.

Epic way to end Season 2.

And AJ improved again in this episode.

Also according to talk about Season 3 there will be an episode who will drive us "nuts."
