Removing an account

Recent developments with the Escapist, that I disagree with, have forced me to contemplate something that I have never done in 5 years of lurking and membership. If these developments persist I am thinking of removing my Escapist presence. Is there any way I can shut down my account without getting banned?

Please do not take this as a trolling attempt or anything else. I am keeping my options open, of which leaving and removing my Escapist account is one such option.

There was another thread about this recently somewhere. The short answer is that there's no way to "delete" an account. Your options are just go away quietly, go through all of your posts and remove the text and scrub your account of information/links, or go out with a bang and earn a permaban.

You can also contact the staff/moderators and your account can be made unreachable - posts would remain but people wouldn't be able to search for it.
