Let's face it, this world sucks and until we use the Hadron Collider to open up gateways to other worlds it's gonna stay this way so we may as well figure out ways to make it not boring. Doesn't matter whether your life would remain the same or not, just imagine for a moment you could instantly change your name to whatever you wanted, no paperwork, no drama, just a new name of your choosing. So, what'll it be?

I already renamed myself, to Valetta. Short, sweet, and capable of sounding both unique and something a parent would name their child.

You can't get any shorter and sweeter than "Betty".

From now on, I wish to be addressed as Sir Bertrand Haberdashery Pilkingtonhamshire III.

So let it be written; so let it be done!

I'd be very tempted to change it to one of those awful pun names.
Ivana P. Freely or something like that.

That or Princess Conseula Banana Hammock.

I'll just be changing my name to Klonoa Milner.
Change my surname to my mothers maiden name, then just call myself the best name in existance.

Edit: I shall hence forth be know as
[HEADING=2]Nigel Fingers![/HEADING]
So terrible it's perfect.

My parents gave me a shit name, I'm going to carry on the tradition and give my child a terrible pun name.

OT: Wolfgang McFiddlesticks, the same name I give all my RPG characters.

Max Wolfgang Kim. Come on, tell me that's not a fabulous name.

I'd just change it to my national insurance number so that I'd be able to remember it when I fill out forms. Life would be much easier if we all just had a unique numerical identifier rather than some riduclously contrived name.

EDIT: Obviously though if the opportunity arose I would rename myself Gary Bradigan.

If I was more willing to sacrifice my dignity for comedy (and didn't mind people thinking I was a porn star), I'd change my name to Quigley Von Sexington. I'd need a pretty fantastic moustache though, I'm not sure I could pull it off otherwise.

I don't know what I'd rename myself to, Thrall Hellscream would be a cool name :D

Well Joss has tumbled around in my head a few times but it's origin is just too cliche and silly sounding for me to probably ever officially adopt it.

Why not Zoidberg?
(V)(;,,;)(V)

This thread is too deep, intellectual and controversial for my liking. Also, OP didn't give their own changed name.

I'd change my name to Wendy, but still keep my original name as a second name. I might as well change my last name to Wenseph too. So, it'd be like Wendy R. Wenseph. People could still call me my original name.

Didn't someone here recently change their name to Guybrush Somethingorother Threepwood by deed poll?

For me, probably Major Major Major Major. Even though it does not have good precedent.

Alternatively if I ever tire of life I could go with Jar Jar Binks and go to Star Wars conventions.

Already did, changed all of them. Angelica Alianore Uggla, the last being a family name on my mothers side. From a noble house my mother belongs to and stretches back to the danish war in the late 17th century.

Angelica just felt right (despite not being a christian) and Alianore is a beautiful, uncommon name that fits with the rest.

Hm. I don't mind my first name; Stephanie. I was named after Stevie Nicks and some people still call me Stevie. I hated it as a child, but then I came to realise how amazing the woman is.

And Stephanie is the female form of Stefanos, which means crown or 'the one who is crowned' in Greek. And I kinda like that.

My last name I would like to change. I don't really like that side of the family. But as my sister and I are the last two of the name it'll die with us anyways, since neither of us seem like we'll have kids.

I've always liked the name Riovanes. It's noble sounding. I took it from Final Fantasy Tactics, there was a castle named Riovanes Castle.

On the subject of comedy names, my boss and I went through a phase of coming up with rude spoonerism names (after reading on Wikipedia the almost certainly made-up 'fact' that Kenny Everett's character Cupid Stunt was originally named Mary Hinge). Some of my favourites were Betty Sweaver, Christine Prack, Lizzie Bickendix and Susan Emen

And of course, moving away from the spoonerisms there's some old classics like Hugh Janus, Joe Quilley and Jenny Talwarts
