Let's just make a list so people know what not to make a thread about (if they aren't an avid forum user than they might not notice things like there are a billion of -will PC gaming die?- and -fetishes- threads.

I guess I'll start with:

1)PC gaming death/life threads
2)Fetish threads

keep going with the numbers and add your own if you think of any.

Threads complaining about repeat threads just pips the post for me, closely followed by zombie apocalypse.

Zombie threads (including the "with a twist" ones), talking about the death of PC/Console gaming, threads talking about how people are annoyed by repeat threads, threads about how horrible Shooter games are, "what anime should I watch?" threads, Relationship advice threads and the "Favorite toe on your left foot" threads that keep popping up! Edit: Spoilered for crazy off topicness:

The ones about love that always devolve into a whole mess of "love isn't real", "Its just your brain telling you to have sex", or something.
But it's true man! /wrists Although seriously, the only reason love exists is that it aids in survival of the induvidual and the group, if you didn't love your children, then you would have less of a problem killing them and if you kill your children, your genes don't pass on. Or if you didn't love your friends, you would be less reluctant you kill them, and killing off allies is usually not a good idea when you're part of a species that pretty much needs to be in a group to survive and reproduce. You might consider what I think to be whiny cynicist emo stuff, but honestly, I don't mind, I don't really care that friendship and love are mostly only there for survival. It's irrantional, but it's fun, happy and wonderful and if you can't be happy or make others happy, then why live?/preachycorniness

Threads about cheering every one up or funny threads or anything along those lines. Also senario threads where some weird senario is put into place and you have to say what you would do in that senario or what you think would happen in that senario.

"Last stand song".
Avatar threads, i.e., if your avatar just impregnated your sister.
Anime recommendation threads.
Morality based threads: "KILL TEN OR SAVE YOUR MUM EVEN THOUGH SHE'S A BIT OF A WHORE".

The above generally makes up over 90% of the Escapist's forum. Every once in a while, however, you'll find a good gem. That, or you'll end up in a complaint thread.
Oh schnap.

EDIT: Oh fuck, i almost forgot. The threads where a nerd makes contact with the opposite sex and asks for assistance from a gaming community. "A girl just looked at me and i'm wondering if i should have been wearing a condom".

I'm mostly just teasing, but it does grate on the nerves.

Honestly, age threads. A quick use of the search bar gets you any bar graph you want.

Anime thread
Metal thread
MLP image dump/circlejerk where super pushy fans dogpile on someone who dislikes the show for an actually valid reason with one post in twenty actually talking about the show itself
Anime thread
lol mac sux pc master race
Moral choice with two unlikely situations that would never happen where both outcomes are tragic
Anime thread
Game discussion outside of game discussion board
Zombie scenario
Anime thread
Music thread where people say they have obscure taste and then rattle off super mainstream bands
Anime thread
Anime thread

Would it KILL you guys to talk about animation from THIS hemisphere without slamming new Simpsons, polishing the ass of FiM or Phineas and Ferb, or reminiscing for shows you haven't watched in a nearly a decade and acting as if 90% of your beloved childhood shows aren't available for sale on DVD or digitally?

This one's pretty up there. As are "Am I the only one", "Zombie Apocalypse" and people complaining about COD.

Dish dish lol, I agree I'm not a fan of complaining threads, but this thread is supposed to be more of a guideline so people can avoid threads that get the inevitable "You're stupid, this thread is stupid" comments that come from people who use these forums regularly. It's also for the people who are regular users and who are tired of seeing repeat threads :)

You do realize this thread is going to eventually fall off the first page (probably within the week, actually) and then we're back to square. Seeing as repeat threads are often the result of a lack of search function. So it's all rather pointless.

OT: Anything about gays. A lot of the attitudes expressed about gays on this forum make me want to stop visiting.

'Ask an X' threads. They're narcissistic, they're pointless, everyone knows it, and people still inexplicably choose to make and reply to them.

To add injury to insult, they are never, ever started by someone even remotely interesting, killing any of the scant potential that kind of threat might have. Of course, anyone actually remarkable enough to make one of those threads worthwhile isn't going to make one in the first place.

The biggest problem is that nine out of ten of them don't even have a subject; the OP is the subject. Any question, any topic you can pose to them, the thinking must go, will be made worthwhile simply by dint of the OP discussing them, and yet they don't think to just go make a blog. To start one of those threads really does take the mindset, "My hobby/fetish/severe congenital brain dysfunction gives me a unique perspective on the entire world, and I am doing the Internet a favor by allowing them access to my vast wisdom."

Repeating thread threads.

Recommend me an anime is also really annoying. But I've accepted the fact that no one uses the search bar anymore. If the mods locked the repeats... But that isn't going to happen.

Just a part of life here on Off Topic. So that's why I live in Forum Games now.

Threads where the OP claims to have lost faith in humanity.
Oh this too. Seriously, who made this "cool"? I want to throttle the person who started the trend.

Either

"Ask a _____ about Fox news claiming that female gamers are less likely to fight for their country when China invades."

or

"The zombie apocalypse has happened and now your avatar thinks feminism is stupid. What is your choice of weapon?"

Avatar threads. Fucking hell we've got enough of these. What next, "What if your avatar shits on your bed?"?
Now you've gone and done it, someone is going to make that thread now, damnit.

OT:
"What anime should I watch" threads, seriously, someone needs to make a sticky with recommended anime, or people should learn to google, just typing "anime" into google brings up ANN in the top 3 results, thats got MORE than enough info for any anime searcher.
Threads that generalise "how bad the gaming community is." These threads are just obvious attempts at trolling and/or a shameless, easy way to get 10+ pages on your topic.

By God, seconded, seconded, seconded!
I have never seen a worse kind of thread than these types.
To put it simply: Who actually gives a fuck? No one cares OP. I'm sure it's tough being a [insert ethnicity/sexuality/gender/career choice] here. But really, has anyone genuinely thought to themselves "Geez, this is a hard question, I wonder what a Inuit Transvestite thinks about this..."?
I'm sure there were a few people who made these threads, genuinely trying to educate, express some interesting opinions/experiences and answer questions but the majority of them boil down to: "Hey. Hey. LOOK AT ME. GIVE ME ATTENTION."

EDIT: Also, the Fetish threads to me seem a bit pointless. I mean I know it's the internet, but I'm not sure that many people are going to bare their innermost secrets about what gets them off to random people. Maybe it's edgy or controversial or what have you but impact disappears after time, kiddos...
