Other than sports games or multi-player, I can't think of a single game that (once completed) I've wanted to go back and play again.

I have a much stronger desire to get into a brand new game.

What is it that creates the need to play a game all over again?

Probably the amount of content, which is usually high if you want replay value, and the fun factor.
Hell, I replay Genesis, old PC games, and SNES games more than any console I've owned that's been released since the Gamecube generation.

I don't know, if it's just a fun game, maybe? I've replayed LoZ: OoT probably over two hundred times since it came out, I can't get enough of that game.

Lots of things, Like Fun factor, how deep of a sandbox game it is (If it is one), difficulty, unlockables.

I mean, I kept going back to Dead Rising becuase of how much you could do in the mall, it just had so much dicking around potential!

Wana build a barricade in a coffeshop? Go ahead? Wana use a heavy calibur machine gun to cut thru a horde of the undead? Have fun! Wana put as many novetly heads onto zombies as possible? Go nuts!

Wana solve an international conspiracy relating to the undead under a timespan while constantly beinf harassed by an old janitor over a walkie talkie again? Sure, have fun!

RPGs if they are good will suck me in to a replay with a different character type. If the experience is too similar I won't get through a second playthrough. That's one of the reasons I don't lawn mower areas and do every side quest in RPGs anymore.

Tactical games I'll play through many times, to well, try different tactics. Jagged Alliance 2, Xcom, Silent Storm, and Ghost Recon (the original) I still play again and again.

Of course I'll also replay for nostalgic reasons as well. I'll be one of the first in line to download Black Mesa when it gets released.

Marvel v.s. Capcom 2, for when I don't have anything to do.

LoZ: LTTP, Have it for the GBA and still lovin' it.

Silent Hill 1&2: It's some of my favorite horror games

I think it's the familiarity, fun, and nostalgic factors that keep bringing me back.

I feel little desire to replay a finished game, even for the achievements.
Resident Evil 4 however, I've played 30~ times+ sometimes 2-3 playthroughs in the same day.
Not sure what it is, but I can't get enough of RE4.
Any Zelda game has serious replay value to me, as well.

Ninja'd my original point, my SNES is still hooked up, and still gets a fair amount of use considering that I've had it for about 15 years.

I'll replay some shooters that blew me away on my first playthrough like Bioshock, Dead Space
...and my second point, I've played through Dead Space twice, Bioshock 4 times. The atmosphere in those games were just spectacular, at least in my eyes, so they're still fun after a playthrough.

RE4 too, I've played through it so many times that I know where all the jewels are off by heart. Hell, this is probably the only game where I've done speed runs.

All the Wii games I own, I replay a lot.
The 4 out of 6 Xbox 360 barely get played twice. While the other 2 collect dust along with the console.

The fact that it's actually good.

If I like a game, I'll play it again. There's no one thing that makes it replayable. It's a combination of things.

Overall though, it just has to be a good game.

it really just depends person to person, some people love just reliving that DESTROY ALL moments in shooter campaigns while others love huge sandbox/side quest galores while personally i love story/character driven replays (which is why i've beaten kotor easily 40+ times now)

For me it's fun and just getting to destroy everything again makes me want to replay something.

I used to be big on achievements and the satisfaction of 100 percentage a game. But, nowadays there's so much to play that I just shelf it and move on to the next title.
Same here.

I wanted to 100% Tales of Vesperia and Final Fantasy 13. I really did. But I beat the story once, and moved on.

OT: Replay value for me, is in gameplay. Not in seeing different choices and their results, but in experiencing a truly different style of play. Morrowind and Oblivion lend themselves to this VERY well. Ahh...the fun of custom classes. My favorite character was one that never did direct harm, via spell or sword.

All summons and control spells and stealth. Good fun!

If the game is amazing and captures my imagination I can replay it a thousand times. I can't even count how many times I've played through the first Mass Effect.
