Somthing that came to mind after watching the new 'Extra Credits' video was hearing all of the older music, part of me got an instant buzz from hearing them again and remember all the times I played my old Gameboy, megadrive&PC games. Then it hit me. All those older games I must have played countless time each. Over and over again untill I knew every move to make, where all the enemies will pop-up from and so forth.

But now I think back and I have so many next gen games that I am either only half way through, or played once, compleated it and then put it aside. What happend? is it just me, have the newer games just lost the appeal with no real repaly value apart from getting all of the xbox points and acievements or is it that now that I'm older I have lost that abilityto sit and play the same game day in day out just for the joy of it?!

What about you guys? Do you still happily sit and replay the newer games over and over again the way you use to as a child or are most games nowadays a once over and then move on?

Games that have lots of different threads and outcomes, or lot of types of weapons / loot / armour tend to pull me back in. Im in danger of talking about this way too much, but the STALKER series has pulled me back over and again for those reasons. I guess another example would be Fallout 3 or other RPG's, though that said I fatigued myself by playing Fallout 3 for an entire month, and havent had the desire to go back yet.

I've also gone back to Crysis a couple of times. Anything with a bit of depth to the gameplay or mutliple ways of playing it (run and gun, stealth - open world games are good for this) might pull me back in. Plus I am poor and have to recycle my old games....

I replay some. Dead Space is one of my favourites to play again, probably because of it being made by what used to be Looking Glass Studios and you get that System Shock-y atmosphere. Demon's Souls is another, it's my favourite pvp system on a console and all the ways of playing are different enough to be worth checking out. I'm not sure if you'd class them as new exactly (2001, 3 and 5) but I love replaying the Project Zero series. Certainly newer than gameboy/megadrive stuff.

Nostalgia has a pretty big part to play in that affect, obviously. You could have played Superman 64 as a 5 year old and still replayed it....maybe not, but you know what I mean.

At any rate, there are a few games that I replay regularly that are at least, somewhat recent.

Though, I really only replay games when there's absolutely nothing out that I want or if there's nothing else to occupy my time with. Recently went back and played Assassin's Creed 2 and DMC4 for the hell of it.
