So, I was reading about blizzard shooting themselves in the foot around the release point of Diablo III. I thought to myself for a second and then went treasure hunting in the missing drawer of my desk (well rather the compartment there of). I pulled out my Diablo battle chest. I put the first of the series in my computer, quickly installed it and fired it up. "Oh what the Fu-" The colors of the game were randomized and it was impossible to play "Fine windows 7, I won't play Diablo." I pulled the disk out of my computer, pushed it back in it's paper sleeve, and got out the four disks (Play disk, Cinematics disk, Sound disk, Expansion disk) needed to install Diablo II with the "Lord of Destruction" expansion. After switching disks an innumerable amount of times I fired up the game. The opening cinematic did not play, nor did it the second time, nor the third. "fine windows 7, I don't need cinematics anyway!"

So I ask you escapists, What old game have you had the urge to play?

A while ago I uncovered my old copy of Worms World Party. It kind of works, but the colours are completely fucked. I did some research and there is a fix for it, but I didn't bother to try it. Looked very complicated. Or maybe I was just too lazy at the time. Yeah, it was probably that.

At the same time I also found Sonic 3D Blast (or simply "Sonic 3D" where I'm from). That piece of shit ran flawlessly. Sod's law.

Just so you know, you can activate your D2 code on battle.net and then download an installer, so you won't have to bother with discs at all. It could possibly even fix the issues you're having (also I didn't have any problems whatsoever with the disc version on Win 7)

I'm looking at re-running Resident Evil 4. I've been on a bit of a Gamecube marathon of sorts actually, having just finished both Metroid Primes.

I found my copy of Space Channel 5 in a box with some of my old stuff that I squared away in my closet, I have no idea why it's in there.

I really want to play that again now, but I need to finish a few games that I have going before I pop that in.

Ooh, yes - WWP. If it's the same fix I'm thinking of (it incluudes patching the .exe among a couple of other things, IIRC), well I got it a while back and it does work to an extent - the game doesn't look like shit any more. There is just one side effect I stumbled upon - it randomly crashes to desktop for no apparent reason. Sometimes at the end of a match, sometimes during. I finally removed that and when I get the urge to play Worms, I have Windows XP in a virtual machine, which makes it all fine again (but the background animation in the menu is mega fast).

Anyway, as for urge, I'm replaying Bloodlines now for the second time this week. I finally tried Companion Mod and it looks great, although it's outdated. I'm planning a third run when I finish this one, so far I have one Dominate based (Ventrue), a Presence based (Toreador) and I'll be making a no-social-Discipline run (Nosferatu). I'm still debating whether or not to play a Malk afterwards, though.

Other than that, the few HL threads made me want to play some HL but maybe I'll just do a marathon of Freemans Mind (+ maybe Shephard's and Barney's).

And recently, as in last week (Steam tells me it was the 16th, so exactly a week ago I stopped), I played some Spore. Not as old a game, but still, not exactly current either.
