Apple showed off the new iPhone 7 today, revealing that they took inspiration from the older phone designs of the 1980's.
"We're all really happy with this new design. People today care less about efficiency and instead want a unique look to make themselves stand out from the rest of society. By making this blocky, unwieldy design it'll make them seem so quirky and cool when they take grey-scale photos of their food or go record shopping" said Jonathan Ive, Apple Chief Design Officer.
Ive continued to discuss how this design change was on the forefront of cellular phones.
"The 1980's were a time of simplicity. This isn't just because of the limited technology but also because of the joys of childhood. This design helps bring back those nostalgic memories of having a giant brick to heave around. We're also looking for ways to have the phone's internet actually connect to a dial-up modem for that rich sound. Doing this will give us the hipster market for the retro lovers and the elderly market for the Luddites."
"We're keeping the features list short not just to keep people guessing but also because we won't have many to begin with. This helps keep the design simple and clean, just the way we want it here at Apple. I'm really excited to see how the consumer market reacts to this really exciting development. Suck on that, Google" said Tim Cook, Apple CEO.
Rumors are also spreading that the first 1000 people to purchase their phones will also receive a copy of the 2015 film, Steve Jobs, to remind customers how relevant they still are.
