Unfortunately, the only Halo game that I cared for was the first. I fell out of love with the "story/universe" after the events of Halo 2. Yeah, I'm one of those guys that plays Halo for the story/lore, not the multiplayer[...]

Halo 1, nothing like it.
*EDIT*
In retrospect, I wonder if having more reasons to go with Xbox Live was a partial influence for this decision, with multiplayer being the main draw for most Halo fans I've met.

I honestly wonder if they'll bother with LAN options for these games, or at least for Halo 1 and 2.

I have exactly one question. Will this allow me to play halo 2 multiplayer again? The answer to this question could result in me buying an xbox one and renewing my subscription to xbox live, things which, at the moment, are unlikely to ever happen. The ball is in your court, microsoft.

PC Port? the games are older, so why not?

It's not like anyone is going to buy a 360 to go back to them, and not many people would buy a new console for older titles.

ODST's my favourite Halo, and - flawed though it may have been - Reach remains the only campaign to allow for character customisation (which I'm a sucker for), and its narrative of a team of Spartan's was nifty. ODST and Reach add a lot of texture to Halo's game 'verse, so excluding them is rather daft. Any actual Halo fan would value both as highly as the core trilogy or 343's new entries.

Wait wait wait, does this mean online multiplayer for Halo 1, and multiplayer back up for Halo 2. If so, Microsoft will be ROLLING IN DOUGH. I'm not a huge Halo fan, I haven't played 4 or ODST yet, but this collection is pretty awesome. Seriously, this is gonna be a killer app. I have some friends that would definitely buy an Xbox One for this.

Exactly why they are making it a compiled HD collection the the XB1, they haven't said anything of a PC port at all, I don't think they will tbh.

Man, just put it on Steam already. No one wants to drop half a grand just to get an underpowered console to play games that they already have.

This, so much this. The only thing keeping me from buying this is the shitty console standing in the way. Halo is better with a mouse anyway, making it only playable with a gamepad is just a waste.

If you want to make us buy your shitty console, at least be smart about it. Rerelease the first 4 on PC so PC users can get into the series and THEN make the 5th one a console exclusive. That's how you do it, keeping everything on the Xbox just puts a stranglehold the series. Most of the people who would buy a console for this already own Xbox Ones.

NO! Just make the Xbox One backwards compatible already! Jeez! Stop trying to sell us things we've already bought!

I already have every Halo game. I don't want to have to buy them all over again.

man just drop the Witcher series full on consoles already?, I mean it's not like gamers are going to get the full gist once they buy Witcher 3 on consoles when 2 only just roughly graced the 360.

It's getting annoying when people fail to notice that it;s not just a one way street when it comes to consoles, PC's have done this too.

That comparison is really pushing it. How does the Witcher series even compare in that scenario? It's not like CD Projekt RED is re-releasing all the Witchers on the Xbone and expecting their fans to buy them all over again. That's exactly what Microsoft is doing. They've got a dead-in-the-water console with no games, and they're scrambling to get whatever they can onto the console. If they weren't assholes, they would have allowed backwards compatibility for the Xbone, and allowed users to play games they already had for the 360.

People still own and play Halo 3 and 4 online, why would they want to buy those games again? Servers still work on the 360.
