It does appear as large as JC2 with a lot more activities and random events going on, i have yet to even get to the main island as the first island i started on is pretty large by itself and there is always something nearby happening that you can get involved in. The only way to upgrade is through challenges you find that are unlocked by liberating towns and taking over settlements either strategically or balls-out insanity.WolvDragon said:Thank you, I was quite scared it was really broken, btw coming from JC 2, what did it change and keep? Does it have more side content? Can you go inside buildings? Thank you.
One review that explained the game pretty well, mentioned that you get more from the game if you experiment and use your imagination with the tools you have at your disposal, otherwise merely shooting and lobbing grenades at every target will get old quite fast. I been having a blast with the multiple tethers you can place and control their snap function. There is more control with the physics there too. As, say 2 or 3 tethers placed strategically can create many amusing circumstances. Like creating a three way slingshot for an unsuspecting future aviation specialist/soldier, as you have control over the retraction and release of anything you tether. Haven't found any buildings so far that can be entered, other than to forward time. But am not far into the world to know what the rest of the settlments are like. It doesn't appear to have a constant day/night cycle by itself though, or a sprint button, which is a little niggle. Or a dodge button, maybe it is an unlock, as the zoom-in-with-weapon function is an unlock i have yet to acquire.
From JC2, the wingsuit adds a whole new dimension to travel, that can feel exhilarating getting around. No more slow parachuting about, looking lost (well unless that's your thing)...instead, grappel up towards the top of building, tap triangle and pull back real hard to avoid an embrarrassingly painful, yet somehow not quite lethal faceplant, go flying up into the sky to then pull a majestic backflip with wings outstretched, only to swoop down like an angry eagle of vengeance with a grenade launcher and lay waste indiscriminantly to anything shiny and moving before you fly unwittingly into a cliff wall again.
There are a lot of close calls to be had. Oh, oops...where did all that text come from? Sorry there! Must wrap this up...the cars do feel much weightier and difficult to control at first, but i prefer it as they feel like a car would; heavy yet fragile at high speeds. There are niggles here and there, such as no vehicle camera zoom and the camera control can't seem to look everywhere you would want it to look. Rico's voice actor is competent, but apparently not a native of...whatever accent it's supposed to be, where the odd line sounds like he forgot to put it on. His recorded lines can get repeated more than would be considered good etiquette for stoned parrots. I think that's most covered so far, sorry for wall of words!
Edit: The AI is a little silly, not sure if that is the intention however. They will forget you ever existed if you distract them with not being around longer than ten seconds. Perhaps i have played too many stealth games.
