I was also hoping to find out what the insane stuff Rockstar overruled was. Even the link (which required registering) had nothing - bah.

I like LA Noire, but I don't see the need to play the same character, or setting or anything. It's a great starting point, now I hope Rockstar take the idea and tech and push it to the next level. Like a 70's detective game with more sandboxing and less pressing X... Maybe even some forensic stuff - like in LA Noire, there are no fingerprints or fingerprinting technology - which is why so many of my suspects were wrongly convicted. I really didn't appreciate the lack of choice, you have to send people down even if you know that they are innocent.

As for Bondi - well who cares?
Frankly, if it isn't Rockstar North, then it's not GTA. Bondi would probably have tried to make it more GTA'ish, and that's not what we wanted from LA Noire. A heavily story based adventure is what we want, and we got it in spades. Theres always gonna be another GTA, so people should just stop trying to copy it, because it copies badly.

then you have a studio that treats its staff exceptionally poorly and is run rather poorly. That's not a particularly attractive proposition for a publisher.
Unless they sign with Activision. Sounds right up Kotick's alley!

The story of LA Noire isn't opened well for a sequel anyway.
Especally since Cole died, they would have to create a completly new character
I wouldn't call it a huge problem though. New city, new guy, new Era? Totally doable. It would be interesting to see the Anti-Communist hysteria in the medium.

I believe there's already a game for that, it's called Homefront, it's full of unlikable cardboard cutout characters, stole it's gameplay from CoD, and had NO potential from the start.

Sorry, you want a less "meta" example don't you?
I was thinking more along the lines of the McCarthy Witch hunts.

Why did Rockstar bother intervening? The best way to kill a shitty game studio is to let it make its shitty games. See: Ion Storm.

Ion Storm did give us Deus Ex, though...

They can still make a sequel, set it in a different city with a different batch of characters. Maybe change the structure of the game so its not just working through the desks as we know what to expect with each desk (though the sort of variation you get with Traffic and Vice was ok).

Maybe put the detective as a Private Investigator (your partner can be one too) so theres much more variation in the missions and how they appear. Then rather than going through the police procedures you can get right to it and poke around crime scenes when nobodys around.

Though a run in with the police would be quite interesting, for tresspassing and taking the law into you own hands and stuff.

I enjoyed LA Noire until i realized i was just pressing X to watch a movie. IT took all the fun out of it. It's not a game. It's a visual book with no fun involved.

Glad i got it for 40 and took it back for 40.
I agree. It's just so static and lifeless. The only time it felt remotely exciting was during the free roam street crime sections when there were no driving restrictions. The main game was cutscene, loading, fast travel, loading, walk around and pick stuff up until you trigger dialog, cutscene, loading, cutscene, completely routine car chase/gunfight/foot chase, cutscene, more loading, grade, cutscene... Might not have been so boring if it ever felt like a Rockstar game in its writing. Just flat and humorless cliche after cliche. Rockstar tried to sell this as a spectator-type game, but every time my dad wanted to watch me play it, he fell asleep inside of ten minutes. That never happened with GTA or Red Dead Redemption.

Well considering how we have how many now like 16 FF I think they can do another game that is similar to LA Noire but have it have a different location like NYC Noire

Or even more fitting, CHI Noire.

I did my work experience at Rockstar in the QA department with four employees who all hated the game and Bondi. Every other member of staff who came their way also shared similar views. Still, I got to play the game for a week, like a year before it was released, which was awesome.

I am extremely dissapointed by this. It would have been awesome to have a Rockstar team in my city, and even more awesome to play LA Noire 2. Neither of those two seem likely now.

Hopefully, Team Bondi does some house cleaning and finds a new publisher so I can see at least one of those things come true, unlikely though that may be.

Maybe Rockstar should have researched developers a bit more before going with Team Bondi...just sayin'.

Seems like the first thing they should do is find a way to get rid of that McNamara idiot. Anyone who accidentally sends out an e-mail to everyone in the studio does not deserve to have that much power. And not to mention how poorly he treats the people working for him.

Poor game ideas? A complete disregard for employees? I'm surprised EA hasn't bought the studio yet.
EA doesn't need to. EA buys competent studios and then turns them into messed up piles of can't get anything done without outside help like Team Bondi. Then they shut them down. But since Team Bondi is in such a poor state already, EA doesn't get to half all of that fun they usually do, and likely aren't interested.

Team Bondi is looking more and more like what everything is wrong with game developers these days;

You've got unreasonable crunch time extending for months on end.
You've got unpaid overtime from said crunch time.
You've got abused employees in poor working conditions.
You've got a disorganized managerial system that knows jack-shit how to manage anything.
You've got an over-bearing boss who doesn't know what "no" is.
You've got a bunch of ambitious ideas not being implemented smartly.
You've got people being hired and fired like hot potatoes, never letting them situate.
You've got the employees being burned out from the industry before they even set foot in it.
You've got a dick-ass boss who doesn't seem to realize how shit everything is going.
You've got an insane amount of money pushing some tech-innovation, sacrificing everything else.
You've got a game, while good, lacks any real damn soul in it.

This shit has to stop in this industry. The film industry had this sort of phase early in it's creation and it has thankfully gotten out of it. The video game industry needs to do the same, or it is just going to cause the inevitable crash this industry will face come that much sooner.

I think it's going to be partially avoided by the rise of indie and casual games. If a game developed by two or three guys can make money, they'll always be an immediate alternative to the studio system - just like with movies.
