Report: Steam Summer Sale Starting Next Week

Beware: the wallet-stalking Steam Summer Sale is almost here, at least according to PayPal.

It seems like the Steam sale dates get leaked every year, and this year's Summer Sale is no exception. In a tweet sent out yesterday afternoon, PayPal UK said that "It's official" that the sale will begin on June 23.

[tweet t=https://twitter.com/PayPalUK/status/743360071053127681]

That means you only have about six days to prepare your wallet. I suggest having someone hide it from you in a very unlikely place.

If you can't wait for the deals to begin, you can always check out the ongoing GOG.com Summer Sale [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/167644-The-GOG-Summer-Sale-Has-Begun].

Hmm, on the one hand I could vote in the EU referendum... but I might miss out on a flash deal...

Gonna go buy some Steam Wallet vouchers tomorrow.

Do they even do flash sales any more I thought they got rid of that when they introduced the refund policy?

Do both, fill up the ol' Steam wallet and just use the Steam app on your Smartphone. Decide the fate of the EU and get fantastic deals on games; democracy and capitalism go hand in hand after all :p

i have nearly 20 games on my wishlist. i wonder how many of them will get a big discount. since its mostly indie titles. for me its important if it get over 75% off. or at least below 10$ to be considered worth it.

I waited.

XCOM2 was 33% off, but I waited for the Summer Sale.

Lets see if my waiting screwed me or not.

I've spend all of my hype mapping out my future Steam Badge Collection progression... so, this sale season better impress the non-existing extra funds or else I'm gaining some new levels this summer! Bar none! This ain't like that winter sale shit of 2015!

Other than that, I'm taking note of all of the OG prices while I can... for "no reason" whatsoever...

Here's hoping the Steam VR catalog gets some price drops. I have a number of VR/Vive games on my wishlist and the primary thing keeping me from trying them has been the asking price. I'm just not ready to throw ~$30 at some of them. There have been some games I've purchased for my Vive that have easily been worth the $15~$25 they asked for. Some worth far more than that, even. But, I've gotten to a point where I'm just unwilling to spend full price on almost any game over $30, with very few exceptions.

As much as I loved the new DOOM, the only reason I was even comfortable with 'pre-ordering' it was because, via Amazon, I was able to pre-order the game for around $40. Otherwise, I would have waited months for a significant sale. Hell, thinking on it, the last time I paid full price for a game, as in $50~$60, was Titanfall, and that was over 2 years ago.

But, if the sale ends up being a dud, I won't be that bothered. I have a number of games in my Steam, GOG, and PS4 libraries I have yet to get to.

Depends, but many "indie" titles see fairly drastic price drops. Especially if A: they've been out for a while, B: they aren't in early access, or C: they haven't been selling well.

Here's hoping Terraria, Project Zomboid, Torchlight 2, and Broforce go way down in price. I'd like to buy a few copies of each to give to some friends. Each is a hell of a lot of fun in co-op.

I am looking somewhat forward...
Kid: Santa, who's that?

Parent: That was a fat man that kids used to believe gave them presents in the olden days, back before the coming of GabeN and the Summer Sale replaced Christmas as the time all children look forward to.

I think your PC games will cost more if you don't vote in the referendum. besides it only takes a few hours to vote

I wonder if the Fallout 4 season pass will be on sale. Thus far, the DLC hasn't been worth it (going by the Steam reviews).

Still, there's a few games I wouldn't mind getting.
