Reporting users

How do I report users? I made an ultimatum of not contacting me on this site with PMs, and I would like to report said user. No trolling please. I still don't know some of the ropes around.

Two ways to do it.

Way #1 (and the preferred way) is to click on the little flag on the top right of a post. However, it sounds like a PM issue (so no report button) so...

Way #2 is to go to the user name and click "Report" (right under their picture to the right of "Add Friends"). This will allow you to email...you know what? I'm not sure who that goes to. I presume it's Staff but I digress. This will allow you to report the user AND give an explanation for why you're reporting someone, which you will likely need for your specific situation.

You could also PM Mods but I'm guessing that "PM system harassment" is something that staff will have to take care of since I don't believe Mods can look into those messages. If you want to ask them, feel free:

If you click on the users name on the left hand side, a scroll thing will pop up. At the bottom, "Ignore" is an option. I've never had to use it but to my knowledge, it does three things...

1. That person's posts on the board will show up like when someone has a warning (so it'll be collapsed and you'll have an option to click on it to see the post)

2. If they quote you (or maybe it blocks their ability to quote you, I'm not 100%), you won't get a message telling you

3. It blocks PMs

Like I said, I've never had to use the function but I am relatively certain it does all those things. For a more official answer, you could always ask the Mod Group:

Note: I did not put that as an option earlier because it is frowned upon to bring up individual problems you have with certain users in there. You'll see people do that a lot but the Mods generally don't like people airing their dirty laundry out for all the other users to see.

Thanks once more my man. I blocked the clanker alright. THe mental gymnastics undertaken by that person were just retarded to say the least. I don't ever want to deal with that kind of BS. And I usually don't like going to the "authorities" so to speak. Last time I went it didn't work as I wanted, so there is some mistrust.

It's also not a good idea to call them names behind their back when it only takes less than a minute of searching to find out who you were talking about. Disagree with them? State your position and move on. That post alone will likely incur warnings, since you were clearly referring to another Escapist.
