I am in need of a few good ideas.

You see, my best friend ever is going through some very hard times right now. We've been together as long as I can remember, since the beginning days of grade school. Knowing him so well, I grew up knowing and befriending his family as well.
Recently his brother, whom I felt was as close to me as almost a family member, was killed in a car accident. This has brought pain to my friend's family, and everyone who knew his brother, because he was also a really great guy.
I feel like I should show some form of respect to honor his memory. I was a palbearer at his funeral, and with his family showing me that honor, I feel like I should repay the kindness, to remember his good name and to console them in these hard times.

Any good ideas on what I can do, fellow Escapists?

How long has it been since the funeral? If its been only a week or so, they might not want fresh wounds reopened so quickly. How does your friend's family deal with tragedy- might they prefer to set their mind on other things?

I don't know- how would the deceased want to be remembered? Perhaps a sort of... celebration of his life, instead of focusing on mourning his death. Play some of his favorite music, look through old photo albums. Might still turn tearful, but that's what I can come up with.

Maybe your friend just wants you to contiue to be his friend, and have you be a comfort when he hangs around you.
