This is a terrible idea. You have to look around when you drive: look left and right before pulling out at a junction; look at the rear view mirror frequently; keep an eye on the small child, playing with a ball over on the footpath.

Not to mention that looking straight ahead like that would be really tiring. People never keep their head straight and level like the man in the video. You'd get cramp. You couldn't even shake your head without affecting the car.
Exactly. If you're not looking all over the road and at the mirrors when you're driving, you're doing it wrong.

Driving by GPS is almost as bad -- the maps are never up to date; for example, they moved a major highway a while back and whenever I have a GPS on while going through there it shows me driving through empty space (and says "GO TO NEAREST ROAD" in the directions).

Yeah, that's a good idea. Just know that when driving that thing you must never look away from the road ever! That awesome wreck, nope can't look. That hot chick, unless you want to run her hot ass down. That billboard, you want to get us all killed!?

The interesting bit about their car is that the side view mirrors have been removed and cameras project the side onto the dash/windshield. So Maybe this could work except...

So what happens when I sneeze while driving on the highway?
what happens when the elderly drive, the drunk drive, the teens the are unable to keep their eyes on the road...etc.

Have you ever driven a vehicle and seen a automobile accident on the road. People tend to look while driving past.

What happens when I drive up to fast-food joint?

Asimov!

Why don't they just focus on computer driven cars from now on? Sensors, GPS kinda thing
