OK since it's release in late 2005, Resident Evil 4 has been a HUGE hit, making it a popular game to people who had never even heared of the RE series before the game's release, me being one of those people. I became a big fan of the game alomost instantly and have completed the game 5 times.
Now RE5 on the other hand is still a good game, but it really didn't meet most people's expectations, as it wasn't anywhere as scary as we were expecting. Actually it's not scary AT ALL. But it's 2 player feature gives it a huge plus. And it's still an ongoing argument between fans which is better, 4 or 5?
Now in my opinion 4 JUST (and I MEAN just) beats RE5.

Cool

Now why did your opinion deserve an entire thread? If you used the search button, you would have found several threads comparing the quality of the two games.

What thinly veiled justification you have there.

And if you want scary in a game, there should be only ONE player character and no support. It adds a sense of depressing loneliness, and takes away the sheer stupidity of a scripted character (or indeed another human.)

I don't think it's fair to say a scary game can't have more than one person.

While isolation is a major element of horror, you could still make a game scary even if you had a partner. It just hasn't been done properly (to my knowledge) so far. I think it could work.

I think if you work hard enough on a game, you can make a game very scary, even with 2 players.

I psychically sense that this thread will be locked soon.

That said I much prefer Resi 5. Resi 4 was far too difficult for me even on the easiest difficulty and I couldn't STAND the dialogue. In Resi 5, the dialogue's still laughable at times, but they're making improvements.

RE4 in my opinion is better
RE5 is too easy I found I got the infinite rocket launcher on accident and I learned its free!! at least in 4 it take 99 percent of the game to raise the money you can also get ifinite any weapon even easier plus RE4 is scary (but ill admit only when regenoraters dr salvadors bella sisters and ESPECILY IRON F***ing Maidens are there)

I remain ever skeptical of such an occurrence. Real horror stems from messing with the player psychologically, rather than chaining a bunch of startling events together. Building up tension through the game is vital to this, and easily ruined by having someone waltz around behind you and screaming every time something happens. This is even more so when the character actually supports you in some major fashion (attacking, healing, etc.) AI will always be rather criminally thick, and playing with someone else also ruins the effect.

Although complaining about it has awaken in me some kind of challenge to actually design something to make this work. Hmmm. Two human characters, have to help and rely on each other...Can only communicate through in-game speech...and both are rather ineffective at dealing with monsters...

I can imagine bits and snipits here, but for the most part it seems like a game no one would want to play.

It would be difficult to design, that's for sure. You would have to create a scenario in which you need the other player to survive. You don't want them to die. That way even if you aren't being killed but they are, you still feel horrified by it.

Now obviously such a concept would be easily ruined by the other player as they could act like an idiot or ruin the game's atmosphere. But that would be the players fault, not the games.
