I was thinking the same thing, though I couldn't tell for sure if it was Capcom themselves asking or if it was just a post where people talked about what they wanted just for the hell of it. But if that's the case, Capcom's really hit rock bottom. :/ Which is a really bad sign for RE.character said:

RE4 was fantastic when it came to the gameplay. Everything else was beyond terrible.
They could have Chris and Leon search for Claire who gets kidnaped by whoever. You'd be able to buy/find custom gear like riot gear and shitch between the two guys. Also, they could make this coop and maybe get S.T.A.R.S members as unlockable characters that could be used in multiplayer.
Go back to making Re like you used to, without all this over the shoulder tomfoolery.

For someone like me whos only experience with resident evil is with the more recent titles such as 4 and 5 I feel they shouldn't give in to too much fan-service by cramming the game full of characters from earlier games and expecting the player to know all about them. If they have to do this they should try to show newer fans of the series who they are through the use of flashbacks/biographies which could easily be avoided by the hardcore fans of the series and make the game feel more accessible to newer players.
