Sooooo, some sales data got posted for it. Apparently it sold 2.39 million units in four days.

Iunno if that's good or not. Maybe someone else will know.

Resident Evil 5 sold 4.76 million in three years, so meh.

I think thats pretty good numbers (solid anyway) but nothing staggering considering the name really though I doubt thats enough for them to even break even considering the stupid amount of resources it seems they put into this game.

I could be wrong as I am just going by what I have heard about the amount of people working on the title at one time or another which is never a solid basis for assessment but its all I got dammit.

I reckon they will be wanting to break the 5 million mark but I cant see that happening. Personally I think they put too mnay eggs in one basket but if it works out for them then thats a good gamble on their part I guess.

At least half of that was in Japan. They love them quick-time event games I guess.
Well capcom is a japanese company isn't it( i may be wrong i don't keep track of these things )Do they get it for less? I can also see them wanting to support companies on their soil ...

OT: that seems like quite a bit actually . How much money did they spend developpig this game? I for obe won't buy it regardless but i won't stop anyone else from doing so . RE just doesn't appeal to me personally anymore.

Brand recognition. RE4 was great, RE5 wasn't bad. It takes at least a game or two for brand recognition to weaken. Resident Evil is a long running franchise and there's a lot of people who'll buy it simply because it says Resident Evil on the cover. This practically means they can put out boxes full of actual feces and people would buy it. So sales won't be terrible, but they'll be lower than expected and if the game disappoints it'll weaken the brand, damaging sales of subsequent games.

same case as with call of duty games. totally shit games yet people still buy it why ?? because its call of duty !!!
atleast resident evil games are more fun, innovative, and better than call of duty .. and resident evil games dont come out every year so its a fresh experience every time.

I saw my local place flogging it for 30 euros. (new games go for 50 on consoles usually) I figured it was so they can say that it sold like gangbusters and bury the financial loss. That's just an uneducated guess

I believe they said there were 500 people working on RE6, but I'm not 100% on that.

Edit: Made a mistake. It sold 2.39 million units in 4 days. I was looking at PS3 only before.

They aren't shit, they're just the same game released over and over with better graphics and a few tweaks. learn the difference :/
