Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 appears to be coming to the PC, and for $40 plus RE5 I'm having a hard time not going ahead and pre-purchasing it. However, I've seen some pretty terrible things about the latest (?) RE installment, raccoon city, and I've been curious if RE6 would be a waste of money.

I played enough of RE4 to know just about all that happens, and the furthest of RE5 I remember is the boss where you're on the lake in the boat with the giant alligator thing trying to eat you. So I think I'll be all right on the story, plus if I do preorder RE6 I'll be able to play through RE5 again.

Also, does anybody know about the coop? I have a friend I'd be interested in playing with so if the Coop is worth a damn I may be able to convince him to preorder as well.

The reason why I ask is because a friend of mine says RE6 is on the xbox already, but since I only game on the PC that doesn't help me much.

The general consensus from what I've seen appears to be that it's a terrible Resident Evil game, a mediocre/passable third-person shooter, and mildly entertaining if you happen to be playing co-op. Couldn't tell you anything from personal experience though, as I've got less interest in the Resident Evil franchise than Sweden has in participating in any wars.

I have enjoyed playing it, but just saying it has received scathing reviews isn't exactly accurate.

All the reviews I have seen out of 10 range between 4 and 9 soo.....

Personally I have enjoyed it a lot, with Leons campaign being my favourite, but everyone has different opinions.

I really wouldn't recommend it.

If you're curious, wait for it go down in price. That won't take long.

As someone who loved Resident Evil 4 and thought Resident Evil 5 was okay, I loathed what I played of 6. It totally stops trying to have any tension at all, even less than 5. It plays like a pure action game, but not a good one. However, at least in the early sections I played they still limited ammo. It wanted to be action while still having something Resident Evil about it with low ammo at the start, which doesn't gel well, especially when the enemies have guns. I played a few hours and then returned it, disgusted. If you MUST play it, wait for a Steam sale. It's not worth getting on PC launch. Especially for it's price, given how long it's been out.
