Resident Evil Star Confirms Fifth Movie

There's more cinematic Resident Evil coming, and will be at least partially based on fan suggestions.

Resident Evil: Afterlife star Milla Jovovich says that the success of the movie has guaranteed another sequel. Afterlife opened in theaters on Friday, and made over $70 million dollars in just three days.

Jovovich remarked that it was the first movie in the series to be number one in the box office worldwide, and that director Paul W.S. Anderson - who is also Jovovich's husband - already had ideas for the fifth installment, and planned to supplement them with input from fans. "We've been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff, so it's probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It's going to be a more interactive process."

With the movie continuity so far removed from the games, asking fans what they'd like to see seems a teensy bit redundant at this point. Even so, it still could be quite exciting to see someone like Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 2 or maybe even Sheva from Resident Evil 5 battling zombies alongside Milla Jovovich's superhuman clone ninja.

I've always liked the Resident Evil movies, but this change could be good.
Besides, I've always thought the movies were missing something.
By "Something" I mean Leon of course.

They're asking the fans because they've flogged this horse to death already (just not in line with the games) and they need fresh ideas. Methinks they're out.

This just in: Hollywood will keep milking profitable franchises.

More on this as it develops.

Good, This last movie was really enjoyable.
If I suspected it was going to be the last movie, I think I'd find it enjoyable, as well.

I think that the characters in the movie should stop moving when they aim and shoot...just like in the games.

Haven't seen the new one yet, but I like these movies and I'm glad they will continue making them

For the sequel can they try to make it decent? The films are poor in nature. It's not like anyone expects anything more for film that turned a unlikable character into a anime character.

Good. They have a nice system going. Make kind-of-fun, silly action films, keep the budget comparitively low (Afterlife cost around $60million - less than Scott Pilgrim) and so make a nice profit.

Everyone's happy apart from fans of the game, and they're never happy so who cares?

The only one I saw was Apocalypse, and it was piss-weak. Why are people still paying to see these? It can't be dedicated RE fans, as I used to be one and hated the mess the movies made of an already messy storyline. If you find the woman that sexy, just download some photos and fap away, don't sit through several hours of zombie-based faffing around.

Here's my suggestion: Have Leon kill Alice within the first 5 minutes and make him the main character for the rest of the franchise. People would cheer in the theater.

I have a massive issue with the movies. They simply try to be Too big. Sure, they both have the same BASIC plotline. For those reading, did you notice the emphasis on basic? Seriously it's basic. Driven my point home yet? GOOD!

In the original games: Umbrella corp made a bad something-or-other that turned people into Zombies. In the first movie: same thing. Now here's my question: How are we supposed to pull games and movies together in order to seem like they are part of the very same "Universe" when they are so very different?

In the movies, you have Alice running, jumping, leaping, diving, running donw a FUCKING BUILDING and being a ninja. In the games... Well... You can't walk and shoot at the same time. Either this alice person or every character from the games has a severe case of the the stupids.

I don't like the movies. Soemthing along the lines of int he second movie when Alice specifically walked a bunch of people through a cemetary, and waited until they were halfway throug hbefore saying "Oh by the way, THis evil stuff brings the dead to life, lets hope we're not attacked"

But I watched a little bit of one, for shits and giggles. THen I played a little bit of RE4 of my friend's system. All it made me do was says "I wish I could pull that shit off! But I'm stuck not moving while aiming." THey are simply too distinct.

Short form of the entire above post: they need to make the action more believable, as it's gone way fucking over the top

Only one way that this movie can get better, ok two ways. But they're both attached to Milla
