So I'm trying to make a foggy background for an animation project, and I simply can't get the fog effects in CS6 to work right. I apply the 3D Fog to the layer, turn 3D on, and run all of the dials to maximum and I still so no change. I simply can't get any visible fog to occur.

I've searched on Google and I can't find anything that explains how 3D fog is supposed to work. So my question is, how does 3D fog work? Why can't I see it when I apply it? Thanks!

EDIT: Ah, okay so I figured it out. All I had to do was switch the renderer to Raytrace 3D. Apparently CS6 is set to Classic 3D by default, which doesn't make any of the fancy new CS6 3D effects work.
