Here's a thought, maybe it is the world's first Bigfoot sighting game? The entire thing is designed to appear like an out-of-focus, shakey camera whilst the actual gameplay occurs way off in the distance. They could put absolutely anything in to the game and your mind fills in the blanks, making it whatever kind of game you want it to be.
Its a factory in the middle of a field or valley. It doesn't matter much though since this is just concept art anyways. Is the game really so super secret you guys cant even show a non-blurred concept art? Oh Noes, they might find out the setting and time period, blur it, blur it! Essh.
Front-left grey-pattern object is clearly a decaying-building, age unknown.
Far-background humps are likely rock formations
Center blob (1/3rd from right, 1/3rd from bottom) seems to be some kind of warehouse/factory with a triangle roof.
A factory is more likely due to the large vertical objects that could easily be smoke stacks.
The three "bars" extending from what could be a factory appear to be concrete docks. Given the overcast weather in the image, a brown or green color to freshwater would be reasonable, especially if it is an active industrial canal.
Conclusions:
Based on these assumptions, we can make a few guesses as to the content, as well as any possible game applications.
First, that the image is likely a industrial park located near geological features normally associated with the interior North America. It is possible that the park has been abandoned, possibly for 30+ years, and that it lies on a body of water deep enough for some kind of industrial transports (tugboats, barges, etc.), most likely a river or canal.
As noted before, the geography suggests the interior of North America, particularly the southwest United States or northern Mexico. However, Mars has similar geological figures and this may be a terraformed Mars with earthly plant life introduced. This also may be an extra-solar world as well.
While we can't specify the genre, the pre-blurring resolution of the image shows that we can safely rule out turn-based-strategy and real-time-strategy, and, given the past experience of many of the staff, an action game is the highest likely possibility.
Gee, what kind of amazing new innovative gameplay can we expect from 'Call of duty only not because we don't work for activision anymore and it's now set in space and did we mention it's another FPS'?
OH MY GOD a game about the marcellus shale to spread the idea that I'm a poacher and that fraking is causing babies to be born without teeth, hair, and poor motor skills!
Those were the days when there was actual effort put into them, nowdays it's just a simple 10 second clip or like the blurred image above instead of getting to the point and showing some gameplay it just gives off the act of laziness or being afraid of what we might say about the game before it's release.
I'm keenly interested, not because of the image, but because these folks were responsible for the creation of one of the smoothest first person shooters I've ever played. If they iron out the balance issues that have been plaguing the CoD franchise, then I'll probably buy whatever this is.
I don't mean to be "that guy" but why release such an incomprehensible tease image? It's beyond me. As far as I know (or care) it could be a game where you have to run a dinosaur death camp. Where you kill carnivorous dinosaurs in massive numbers, in an arcade style genocide game (New genre?).
We can't tell anything about the genre, the setting, or even basic gameplay. Yeah. Pointless.
