WAR showed me that my time with MMOs were over.... I am sure there are many like me. WAR proved to be a Nicorette from WoW. And now we need neither!
Shit.. I didn't realise it. But you are right, that's what happened to me.

Hell I like the game, I DLed the trial and wanted to subscribe. I'm getting it withen the month in the matter of fact. I have a question though.

Why do MMOs have to be WoW killers? WoW is a good game and WAR is a good game. Is that enough? That falacy is like saying that FPSs should run Halo out of business, if it fails to do so the game sucks. Am I alone on this? Am I the only one who believes that MMOs are a genre and not Warcraft?
Here here, Im totally with you on this one. As someone who's played nearly..(or was it over...) 100 different MMOs, It seems so wrong that some people would take an entire group of games, and hold it to their idea of one certain game.

Anyway, I've thought about trying WAR for a very long time. As someone who played WOW, ..MULTIPLE times, in fact, and just never caught the "WOW Fever", I thought I might find that huge population and all that jazz with WAR. At least since every where I looked, people had been saying good things about it.

I guess my real block came with the total lack of any sort of normal free trial period, so I could at least sample the game before outright buying a copy. I don't know if they still have no free trial, but if they do, then I'll give it a shot. I mean, the worst was when I looked at the price of the CD, and they didn't even include the Customary "Free Month", instead tacking an extra 15 dollars onto the disk's cost for the first month of service.

I just found that really off putting, when all it might have taken to convince me to try it was a stupid little sample.

I still have an active WAR account, but I've been debating whether to cancel it for nearly 2 months now. I have a great guild who used to play together in DAoC (Mythic's earlier MMO), and they're a great group of people. Sadly, that's the only thing keeping me in WAR at all now. The gameplay has not, in my opinion, significantly improved. They keep adding new things (such as four new classes since release, a new scenario map, etc.) and doing piddly little events, but so much of what people felt was broken about the game is still broken! Again, my opinion, but if you didn't like WAR the first time, I would bet that you won't like it much more now. Balance is still bad, the endgame is still largely pointless (I like PVP, but there's still only so long I can fight the same battles over the same castles against and with the same people), and any number of other reasons the game needs improvement.

I tried WAR for a while, but it's just not what it claimed to be. War isn't everywhere, and the game takes every opportunity to take a large shit on the High Elves. In the end, it just couldn't keep my interest.

If with those shiny things they give me back my 3 level 40 characters and all my gear who all magically disappeared after I cancelled my subscription...
Realy? my characters are gone?

But now thats doubtful.
