Retailers Selling Cataclysm

Apparently Denmark is such a small blip on the map that nobody in the rest of the world cares that retailers are already handing Cataclysm across the desk and have been since saturday.

Am I just overestimating the news of this, or has it simply slipped totally under the radar?
Even when I google it, it appears there's no hits relating to it at all.

A friend of a friend of mine here in England got a copy early, but when he tried to do the same there was no such luck. Apparently it breaches contract or some shit, which makes me wonder how his friend got one. There's a way to technically get Cata early anyway, or at least the major patch for it.

Considering that Cataclysm will not be available to play until 3AM EST for me, I assume they're doing the same thing all over the world. In which case, they could have sold the game a week ago and the people who were stupid enough to buy and install it early just wouldn't be able to play for a week.

Already answered, but you can't play anything Cata-specific until midnight PST on Dec 7th anyways. I've had it installed on my PC since the digital download went up a few weeks ago.

Selling it early is still illegal though!

Once one retailer's broken street date, everyone else usually follows. I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure that anyone carrying Cataclysm in Denmark is selling by now, at least in-store.

But yeah, retailers are under contractual agreement not to sell games before a certain date and whoever started selling Cata before release is most likely going to be torn a new one by Blizzard/Activision lawyers

Blockbuster send me a mail about it.. Don't care though as I don't play the game.. I guess it goes quietly because some parts of the world still fear the wrath that is viking. Or something.

Well like some people already mentioned, of course it won't be playable until the servers open anyway.

One of our customers, who's (supposedly)a GM did mention that anyone logging on before server launch would be banned, but I very much doubt that is true, unless Blizzard like to insult paying customers

Yep you can buy the game from Blizz's sight and download it, but you can't play Cata until it comes out on Dec. 7th.
