I love me some retro game music so I thought it would be cool if we shared some of our favourites :D

Also, does the Dreamcast count as retro? Because Sonic Adventure 2 is one of my favourite soundtracks :D

Yeah it's cheesy as hell but it's awesome :D

So anyway, share your favourites! :D

I loved the hell out of the Mega Man music, mainly the second game since it was just plain awesome.

Well there goes most of my choices!

You also forgot a crucial part of the Labyrinth Zone music. The part that is repeated every 30 seconds or so when you're drowning :p

And for more retro Sonic!

Good track selection OP, here's mine

Arcade

Amiga (Could produce some really expressive sounds)
Colonisation(Embending disabled) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtPhmoYiLk8

Megadrive (whoever says the MD couldn't produce good sounds is tone deaf or hasn't heard of Noriyuki Iwadare)

PC-98 (FM synths FTW)

I came here to recommend so many Sonic soundtracks, but they've all already been done.

Here's an absolute favourite that surprisingly hasn't been mentioned yet:

Captcha: You Rock!

No, it's the song that rocks!

Earthbound had some fantastic tunes in it... Really set the mood for the locations and worked well with the characters and tone of the game.
Also... Not really retro but definitely retro-inspired, Fez had a soundtrack that made my ears weep tears of joy.

I didn't realise SNES/Megadrive counted as retro o_O

Still, these Megaman X tunes are making me warm and giggly. I went and searched for "Spark Mandrill guitar" and found this:

Thumbs up if you recognise every single note of it.

I approve of all the Sonic Adventure OST drops here.

Well, I guess I'll get started on mine

This is probably my number one favourite track to ever come from a video game.
It's just so elegant and stealthy.

Donkey Kong Country. King K Rool(Probably my favourite boss music of all time)

Can't believe I missed that one!

Anyway time for more music! With no more Sonic.

There are plenty more I could put is well, but I do believe I have put more than enough.

Most of the ones I'd have said have been mentioned. Backup soundtracks, go!

I especially love that last one.

I love me some Castlevania, especially when it's done by these guys.

If you don't like this song, you need to go home and be a family man.
