So my question to you is "Have you gone back to playing a game you haven't played in a long time or had forgotten about and why?"

So I got Gears of War shortly after it came out and about a week after buying it I was trying to sell it on Craigslist. Until very recently when I picked it up and started to play it again.

I started playing Gears again cause one of my friends got it and needed help and I noticed I was better than I remembered.

Edit:

Using an older console applies as well

I've done that with TONS of games. Mostly because my friends FINALLY decide to buy the game...I usually get games within a month of release but my friends don't have jobs.

I had the original Half-Life in August and I haven't started playing it again until a few days ago.

Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness on the PSP. I got at the beginning of last year then put it down for half a year for no reason. I then took it back up around the middle of summer and played it obsessively.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. That damned game... I played it once, ran into a horrible game ending glitch, then didn't play it for a damned long time. Some time(about a year or 2 ago) I decided to play it again, got past that glitched part, then lost interest.

When I came home for Christmas I played a shitload of old Xbox games like Rainbow 6, Chronicles Of Riddick, Brute Force...

Good times.

I also just rediscovered the sheer manly excellence of beers+massive TV+Unreal Tournament 3 splitscreen.

This is really creepy. Same. Exactly the same. Creeper.

I always go back through Oblivion and Fallout 3 and find out there are a lot more fond memories and awesome missions than I remember.

Yeah, I do it with old Gamecube games like Starfox Adventures, Pikmin and Super Mario Sunshine. It's one of the reason I never sell games and just horde them at home.

I started playing Beyond Good and Evil for the first time in a few years today - and now I remember just why I loved it.
Now, if only my copy of Grim Fandango hadn't gone to buggery...

Fable 2 was the latest game I did that with although I often pop in and out of Guild Wars. I'll play for like 6 months, forget about it for 6 months and then go back and play it obsessively for the next 6 months.

I replayed Metroid Prime a while ago. The first level was nice but once you got onto the planet it was crap.

Hmm... I actually got Psychonauts for the PS2 shortly after it came out (and for all those of you who crippled themselves during Yahtzee's review... HA! I say, HA!), but I was forced to stop playing it because it kept freezing up during the VERY last moments of the FINAL boss fight. But I've started playing it again now that I have the Steam version. Good game.

Started playing Jet Set Radio Future a couple of days ago. And the soundtrack is as amazing as I remembered. And it is an all round awesome game. Also played Sonic Adventure 1 on my good ol' Dreamcast this morning. Good times.

Diablo II for me. I hadn't played that game since the stone ages. I found it about a week ago and it's still great fun.
