Not really a big deal for me, the classes I use I can get in one playthrough.
Hope I'm not double-posting. Just wanted to clarify: the specs are broken. You can unlock them, but unless you allocate the skill point right then and there, it'll re-lock when you power down and then there's no way to unlock again. Plus, manuals you used previously are gone for good, meaning no way to unlock ranger or spirit healer.
Oh ok. *Deletes Return to Ostagar*

It's not RtO, it's the patch. People who patched but didn't download RtO still have the problem. You MAY be able to fix it by clearing your system cache, though for many folks this just causes the game to crash saying that the DLC is corrupted. Best advice, just wait for BioWare to patch the patch. *twiddles her thumbs*

You can still learn them though, right? So you can still get Wynne to teach you, if you must. I'm actually glad that Sony's checks have delayed this one for us--means I get to keep my 70billion save files for the game without having to worry about all my specializations going poof. If it means a good product, then take a little time, guys. Not too much time, but if it prevents the whole Fallout 3 bundle of mud, then by all means.

Nope. Wynne's never taught spirit healer in any playthrough I've completed. The manual was the only was I unlocked it. And as far as my game goes, Al, Zev, and Morrigan all think they've taught me specs already. But they're locked. So yep, still broken. *sighs*

Really? Huh. More reason to wait for it to be all patched up, then. And Wynne never taught you Spirit healer? Strange. So even if you'd had them unlocked already, they won't teach you? what if you start a new file, will they teach you after the add-on, where they'll be unlocked?

The problem is, re-unlocking only lasts as long as the console stays on. The moment it shuts down, the specs lock back up again. So Al, for instance, will teach templar. But if you shut off your 360, it locks back up again. Al still thinks he's taught it to you, though. Hence my frustration.

Now that's some wonky patching. Wow, I thought we'd worked that kind of coding error out back in the early PS2/GCN days. Wow. Yeah, glad I've got it on the PS3, where we have to wait a few extra days just to get the same stuff, but at least it keeps the niggling little problems at bay for a bit.

I really love DA:O and wanted this expansion pack, but as a PS3 owner it is due to be released 'later'. I suppose since it screwed up for the Xbox people i shouldn't be too jealous, but how come the PS3 things for this game (even the game itself) seem to come out later than Xbox and PC? It's discrimination!
It's not discrimination - the approval and certification process takes longer for the PS3 than it does for either the PC or the 360. If you're going to be upset at anyone, be upset with Sony.
It`s not just that, porting anything to the PS3 also takes a bit more time then it would any other console, so once again you'd have to blame Sony for that, though.

I don't think the specialization lock would affect me really. I already have a few different characters with the specializations they use already chosen. That and it's not that hard to get the ones I use

Just remember, getting the specs again isn't the issue. The issue is them then re-locking repeatedly every time you load up the game. So if you have a level 20 character with 2 specs unlocked and your whole team customized the way you want, you're fine. But if you start up another character, you won't be able to get any specs. Al will teach templar, for instance, and it will unlock...only so long as the console remains on. Turn it off, you lose the spec, but Al still thinks he taught it to you, ergo, no more templar for that character. That's why this patch is such a big issue. Also, certain specs, like ranger, are only learned through a manual. And the manuals disappear once used...in every play. So I hope you didn't want to be a ranger or that you never unlocked it before, because it's gone now.

Kinda glad I didn't have the points to buy the damn thing!
I was beginning to wonder if it had problems, why was it snuck out after all the fuss over it being available and then delayed etc.
Will wait a while for this one me thinks...

Is the PC version out yet?

I go select the downloadable content menu in game and its not there.

Did they delay it as well?

Oh gee, I wasn't going to play this game another half a dozen times anyway. What a terrible inconvenience.
