Is it just me or does Nintendo need to go back to original style of Resident Evil. Zombies, set camera angles, insanely difficult puzzles. Plz let me know im not the only one out there!

As long as the characters don't move like lethargic tanks and the puzzles are challenging without having obscure solutions, I don't mind what they do with the franchise.

Nintendo? Much of a fan you are if you think Nintendo makes RE.

Definitely needs to keep similar gameplay it has now or control scheme at least. No need to go backwards with something that obviously works great, but puzzles, unlinear areas, old plotlines and zombies (althought they'd need to be faster than before) I welcome back.

RE4 was considered a game of the year, if not the best game ever by number of people. There's a reason for that.

Personally, I loved the original games... yes, the controls are a bit iffy in comparison to nowadays, but they're still a lot of fun to play.

However. I HATE the whole action-based thing from 5. Yes, 4 had a somewhat Beta-version of it, and that was good as is. I'm not overly big on action games, and it bugged me that they (Capcom) had to go and take away the pausing just to make things "more realistic".

It's a game about zombies or zombie-like creatures (among other monsters) where you have to run around shooting them! I mean for crying out loud... At least let us pause the game to sort out what gun would be best. And let us play 1 player in ACTUAL 1 player... not had some stupid CPU bint go and use up all our ammo and healing items before dying in some totally inaccessable spot where we can't revive her. [/rant]

Back on topic.

If they had a game where you had the general action (zooming in to over-the-shoulder view when aiming), hardier zombies, and similar controls (if not the same as in RE4)... while allowing a pause in gameplay while you go into your inventory, proper puzzles and removing any form of 2-character 1 player mode (aka, RE0 and RE5), then I would be happy :)

I personally think the Resident Evil series is over and they need to stop making those games. Don't get me wrong I loved the first couple of em but RE4 just flatout sucked

Yes, Resident Evil 4 had it's parts where it scared me (bloody regenarators) but Resi 5 didn't. The early games use to scare me shitless as a child, playing it with me cousin, not knowing what was round the next corner because of the camera angles and the eeriness of a licker appearing at the top of your screen crawling slowly and then BLAM! he'd attack you! I miss that type of controls, they made you think fast while the actions were slow, making you panic, as your ammo depletes at the slow but hard to kill swarm of zombies limping towards you it was challenging and scary.

Right sorry Capcom, and u do have a point with the control scheme, but with RE4 the only connection it has to the other games is characters. So i dont really consider them to be resident evil games.

OT: Same way i try to block the fact that they made 2 horrible movies off of Starship Troopers.

Yes, the only thing I liked about four was Leon. Ah shit, now I'm gay.

I prefered the games up until 4 and 5 because the zombies were replaced with the infected, I prefered it when it was more old fashioned

I do not disagree with the fact that the jump in story was pointless, it could have at least tried to keep similar atmosphere, there was no reason to completely change the enemies (and the Plaga are quite silly) and that survival horror basically flew out of the window. It easily could have been called something else than Resident Evil without changing much else than character names.

But regardless, it's a great and fun game on its own right.

I guess i could stand the whole over the shoulder view. I just miss the zombies, and puzzles. I felt a great deal of acomplishment when i figured out that you have to combine the thing with the other thing, then take it to a place across the world, get the thing charged, go back to the original spot put it into the hole and the door finally unlocks.....(pant)

True.
I will admit, Mercenary is a lot better in the 4/5 than in 3.
OT But Resident Evil: Nemesis had the best opening cinematic of any game Ive ever played. The only one thats even close is Dawn Of War.

Yeah, it does now rather lack those unlinear areas that had that feeling of accomplishment when you figured out how to navigate them.

I think 4 and 5 were good as games, but they just didn't feel like Resi to me.
I'd much rather see the next one being a) more old school survival rather than the actiony ones we're getting now and b) have zombies again.

As much as I have a misty-eyed nostalgia for the fixed camera, zombie infested RE games I think there would be rioting in the streets if Capcom went back to that type of game. I always hated being decapitated by Hunters hidden one inch off screen.
