Hey All

Things are happening so I thought I'd make a thread.

[sub]Help yourself to the buffet[/sub]

Like any reunion occasion, the first little while will be spent considering just how long you want to catch up with old faces. Or hop back into your car and find a local bar. But there is interest in the website again from old members, if at least curiosity about whats going to happen. So, while we have you here...

What would you like to see happen here?

What was old content you would love revived?

Written media or video content, what's more valuable to you?

Please keep the old grudges at the door. Catering will keep bringing in more free food.

An opportunity to show me media I wouldn't have found otherwise, and also serve as a place to get new creators into the fold, like this place was for me many moons ago.

What was old content you would love revived?
The written columns from video creators were generally pretty cool, and I still don't see a lot of things like that. I'd love to see those again.

Written media or video content, what's more valuable to you?
Written. Hands down.

Not sure what she's doing these days, but the Lisa Foils(sp?) 5 lists were pretty amusing back in the day. Just a quick 2min video about top 5 random gaming nerd shit on I think Tuesday.
Also more judging by the cover.

I'd really like to see Unskippable come back, used to really love that show. My particular favorite moment was the little crossover between them and Yahtzee when one of them actually worked on a ZP video.

More DnD comedy!

I found this site cause of Unforgotten Realms which I still quote heavily. I also really loved Natural 20, which I also still heavily quote. Maybe ask them if they want to do a season 2!

The return of good content. Also a bunch of small minor tweaks.

What was old content you would love revived?
I didn't really watch the content, but anything LRR or Lisa Foiles would be sweet. If possible, bring back Daily Drop, I loved that shit.

Written media or video content, what's more valuable to you?
I value both. I like video content for when I'm playing grindy games so I can listen to something, and I like written for when I have the time to kill.

What would you like to see happen here?
I'd like to see a bustling forum with lots of interesting topics and discussions. I'd like to see the warning system revamped so old regulars stop dying the death of a thousand cuts. Preferably the permaban would be replaced with a month (or two) long suspension and permaban would be reserved for spambots and really serious offenses.

I'd like to see what I posted here put in place.

Also, I don't know if the Facebook comments are still here, but those should be axed.

What was old content you would love revived?
I'd like to see Shamus's column come back.

Written media or video content, what's more valuable to you?
Written, definitely. It's a far more efficient means of transmitting information. I hate having to watch a 10 minute video to see what I could read in 5.

I absolutely love long, detailed analyses of games and would really like to see the Escapist host something like Matthewmatosis's videos or Shamus's retrospectives. Except, exclusive to the Escapist, so as to draw people to the site.

What would I want to see? More videos, for starters (totally seconding the return of Unskippable). And more forum activity (especially in the Role Playing section...)

More content. I mean, Yahtzee must be exhausted carrying the site all by his lonesome.

And, if you're looking for suggestions, I'm really digging that Society of Virtue.

What was old content you would love revived?
You know who was mildly entertaining? That MovieBob guy.
You know when he was most mildly entertaining? When he simply read a script.
No characters. No voices. So, let's make sure he sticks to that.

Written media or video content, what's more valuable to you?
Video.

Catering will keep bringing in more free food.
Where's the chocolate fountain?
I was told there would be a chocolate fountain.

I just want this place to be fun again, where I don't come here 3-5 times a day out of bad habit and see the same thing for half a week or more.

Written media or video content, what's more valuable to you?
Written. Bring back Cinemarter!

I'd like to see the return of Unskippable. It was the video series that brought me here in the first place after all.

You could always check in with Gavin, see if Miracle of Sound could make an appearance on the Escapist. I'd also like to see it as a platform for projects like There Will Be Brawl (still some of my favorite content ever.) Or see what similar creators are doing, check in with people like the former Wayside Creations creators to see what they are working on. Could get some interesting new content that way.

Cinemarter was great! Very much enjoy those reviews.

I used to enjoy watching Doraleous and Associates as well. And I'm a compulsive re-watcher- if I found entertainment in something, I circle that carcass like a vulture.

MovieBob and Jim Sterling were entertaining, as well. I was getting a little tired of MovieBob's gripes and we didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things, but I often appreciated that different take- at least in his earlier works. I liked Schlocktber, as I love all things horror. Jim Sterling was more entertaining, as well as informative- I play games but rarely know what is going on in the gaming industry.

I also enjoyed Extra Credits, back when it was introduced on this site. I... don't know what the hell they are up to now... I had heard that their History series was pretty good, but that they 'polarized' audiences on their latest round of regular youtube clips, and then there's this whole breakup thinggy, seems messy.

At one point I had wanted to make some animated cartoons and get them somewhere- I had had hopes of pitching them to you guys, just for exposure- more of a daydream, really. But the need for cash never seems to diminish, and so I toil on.

I doubt Jim will come back though. Now that he's crowdfunded and carved out a niche for himself, he seems pretty intent on staying independant.

Oh, fair enough. I was just saying that I enjoyed his presence here on the Escapist.

For the record, I'd like Jim back too, but it doesn't seem like that's in the cards. He's stated several times that becoming selfemployed was the best decision he's ever made. I suppose anything is possible. After all, I don't think anyone ever expected Moviebob to be coming back here, and that probably includes himself. In Jim's case tho, I'd advise low expectations.
