What advertizing campaigns have the opposite effect and make you hate the product? Mine are those stupid Orbitz gun commercials and all the advertizing for the Chevy Sonic.
Hey Axe's advertising sucks in the states as well. It always reminds me of that scene in the movie Anchorman where the guy puts on the sex panther perfume and everyone is like "Dude you smell like Panther piss."Eamar said:Are we just talking video games here? Because if not, I go out of my way to avoid Lynx (Axe outside the UK) based solely on their advertising. Not that they do many women's products as far as I'm aware...
Tell me about it... not to mention the fact that it mostly seems to be used by teenagers as a shower substitute :SFreakout456 said:Hey Axe's advertising sucks in the states as well. The stuff has a really strong odor and a person really comes off as desperate if they reek of it.
This man speaks the truth. Advertising doesn't have to make you like it. For example, thanks to their (apparently) bad adverts, now I know about the Orbitz gun and the Chevy Sonic. If you didn't hate them, you probably wouldn't have spread the word and I still would have been unaware of their existence. Hypothetically, if in the future, I have to choose between two brands and one of them I know of thanks to the bad impression you had with them, I am more likely to buy it. You see how the commercials have just the appropriate effect.aba1 said:Well advertising isn't about really making you like a product. Advertising is about making you aware of the product. What the company wants is for you to constantly keep thinking about it. People buy what is familiar first so the more they advertise the more you recognize therefore the more likely you are to buy regardless of whether you dislike the product.
