This is a 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Underground as it maybe. Fauxliage is a new reinventing of a popular music project called Delerium. Produced by Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber. Vocals by Leigh Nash... And I hate to say this... But she's the chick from Six Pence None The Lesser. Ya'know? "Kiss Me," "There She Goes." (Yeah, whatever...)
Okay this album is like listening to a Delerium album. And if Wikipedia is to be believed. Then it's actually considered a Delerium released, just not under the same name.
Shortly after the release of Delerium's "Nuages du Monde." Fauxliage release under the scene and Popped up the joint. Back in 2003 Delerium got into the Pop genre and then fell back to the Ambient, World style. Fauxliage took all the critics of Delerium's 2003 release and kept running with the idea. LIKE IT WOULD WORK! (it kinda did.)
I've told a number of people... I don't have a personal loathe for Leigh Nash. Just don't put her back on a Delerium album. It sorta worked back in 2000, aka "Poem." It didn't work in 2003, aka "Chimera."

Fauxliage opens with "All the World." A very beautiful intro with soaring melodies and complemented harmonies. Even the break and simple outtro was flawless. Breath taking, to be exact.
It's not until, and it's always the third song... A slow balled song called "Let it Go" chills out and grooves to the Lounge style which Delerium is noted for. But then after a couple more vocals, Fauxliage gives it's first instrumental. Short, to the point. "Magic" features the vocals of Leah Randi. IDK, why this happens but she has such an epic voice. She doesn't really sing anything specific. But her vocals are just soothing. Complementing Leigh Nash to some extent.
"Rafe" is the major single from this product. And though I get the idea of Leigh's emotion. I'm just not really sure why this song... It's not really that grand for a single. The other songs could have been just as good. Well anyway... The second instrumental "Vibing" is a longer version of what "Magic" left us with. Thus closing the Instrumentals and leaving us with a couple more songs for Leigh to sing.

In short, Fauxliage is a rehash of what Delerium tried to pull off and failed at. Except for bringing in Pop fascinated fans. So the hard core fans of Delerium probably wouldn't like Fauxliage. However, Fauxliage gives so much to offer. (Odd I know.) See, this is the first time Bill and Rhys, AKA: DELERIUM works with a vocalist and stick through to the end. Except for the two instrumentals. And no, Delerium's first Indie release doesn't count!

Fauxliage is different and yet holds the key to what makes it a Leeb/Fulber album. The duo gave the world one of the best albums in the world KARMA. And after that, we get this jewel in the sea of music....
