went to see Saw 3D last night and it was pretty good but not as good as VI.
the story revolves around a help guru who claims to be one of Jugsaws survivors but it's all a hoax to make money. there are some interesting conversations though during the help sessions, a woman had to choose to kill her abusive partner in order to get out alive. she chose to kill him and she said that for the first time she felt free so benefited form the experience. the woman from V (it think it's V) who cut her arm off was there and said what the other woman was saying was a load of bullshit and that he shouldn't have had to die for her to be free of him. the woman who cut her arm off says all the got from the experience was free disabled parking so it was interesting to see how different people come out after what happened.
the guru, of course, ends up being tested along with the people in on the lie. he goes from room to room (like the bloke in III had to) and try to get his colleagues out of traps which are based on their lies. for example, the loyer that goes with them, who was trained to see justice in situations, refuses to see the evil in what they are doing. she is tied to a rack and will be leant into some poles which will go through her eyes and mouth unless the 'guru' can get her out in time. the outcome is
while this is going on, the police are trying to track down Hoffman who was Jigsaw's helper. Jill (Jigsaws ex-wife) is in hiding after she tested Hoffman, which he survived, and is out for revenge. there are other traps for people set up around the place which Hoffman is using as a distraction to help him get to Jill.
THE BIG PLOT TWISTS ARE IN THE BOX - DON'T READ IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE FILM!
As some may know, i'm not a fan of 3D but the film worked pretty well. the entire film was 3D, not just things coming at the camer or odd bits. i'm still not convinced by it though, still prefer the usual 2D.
one thing that was weird was the acting. there were a few points where some of the cast needed more acting lessons, even Jill at some points. there was a scene near the beginning where she was running down a corridor after she tested Hoffman but the way she was running seemed like she running on the spot, as though it was done if front of a blue screen and looked really stupid. some of the people i went with thought the same thing. some of the people being tested and in pain didn't really convince me they were in the amount of pain they actually were. they probably spent their bidget on the 3D instead of good actors!
in general though it was a good film and a good end to the series. there was going to be Saw VIII but due to a drop in ticket sales they scrapped it and combined the plot with this one so you have 2 films worth of stuff crammed into 90 minutes but it didn't seem rushed. it wasn't as gory as i thought it would be, especially concidering the last films, and i heard one of the traps was going to be in a previous film but was taking out because it was concidered 'just plain wrong' but was used in this one though none of the traps were THAT aweful, especially taking into account the previous films. eye gouging, limb ripping, skin peeling etc has all been done in previous Sasw film but this one had it done in a different way, for a different reason and a different way out.
overall, it was a good end to a great series though, bar Saw VI, i still think it probably should have been left as an amazing trilogy. visiting a friend in a few weeks and i'll happily go and see it again.

Dr Gordon from the first film is still alive and was doing the sergery from the previous film, like putting the key behind the eye in II, sewing the eyes shut in IV and suggesting Lyn to do the operation in III. Hoffman's plans work and he is able to get to Jill and puts the head thing on her that she put on him but so she is unable to get out and is killed. it was a bit nasty seeing her mouth be ripped open like that. once that's done, he gets attacked by people wearing the pig masks, one of whome is dr Gordon. Jugsay had left Dr Gordon a tape saying if anything happened to Jill to act imediately, so he takes Hoffman to the room from the first one where he cut his foot off and leaves him there to rot, which is where the film ends. as Dr Gordon is still alive i don't know if he will carry on with life or keep the games going so i'm dubious about their claim this will be the last film
