Rewrite a Franchise

Game developers and movie makers seem to rewrite or reboot franchises quiet often. Its been done with batman, the hulk, the halloween series, etc etc.
Most recently I debated whether or not the new Silent Hill would be worth it because i played the first one and this re-imagining seems kinda interesting. Ive also thought the same as Yahtzee when he said that the Mario Galaxy thing cant go any further and I think its only choice to to "re-imagine" something for the italian.

So the long and short of what I am saying is if you could rewrite, reboot, re-whatever and game or franchise of something what would it be, and how would you do it (like what would be changed and why) ?

I'd make Halo 3 a good game (story wise). That would change the entire franchise

I'd fix Kingdom Hearts, I have a feeling they didn't think it'd actually get popular. My hunch comes from the fact that the main villain was killed off in the very first game, and every other villain after that was some sort of filler thing.

That's what I was going to say. I would put more emphasis on the Arbiter, give more backstory to the Covenant and forerunner and just generally give the campaign a longer length and still make some effort to show more Covenant perspective so you know there is still ambiguous morals.
Mostly though, I would just give the Arbiter and Elites more screen time and more sequences detailing the philosophy of the new alliance. That said I still think the original ending of Halo 3 should be kept as it was, with the hillside momorial, the elites returning home and Cheif returning to his freezer. That works I think.
