Obviously they chose Richard Garriot because he's the lead developer with the most zero-g experience. You wouldn't want Shigeru or Will or CliffyB or anyone else because you don't know they can handle it.

Also, the risk of a mid-wedding vomit seems kinda high. High enough that I certainly wouldn't risk it.
